- I got an Instagram account! So far it is mostly craft stuff, probably there will be comics too. There are always comics.

- Speaking of, not sure how I feel about the new Captain Marvel team, partly because I loved Kelly Sue DeConnick's run so much and I'm worried that we're going to lose the supporting cast she established, but also because I am worried that no S.W.O.R.D. in the new Marvel Universe might also mean no Abigail Brand. D: But on the other hand it might mean Carol and Abigail working together and I am ALL FOR THAT.

- Really enjoying Down and Safe, the new Blake's 7 podcast by Liz Myles, Amal El-Mohtar, Scott Lynch and Michael D. Thomas! I love Blake's 7 so much and it's great to hear four such excellent people talking about it. ♥ They have just the perfect combination of enjoying it, appreciating its many good qualities, and being thoroughly entertained by its... less impressive elements. It makes me happy.

Blake's 7 is getting a reboot. That is a thing that is happening. And... wait, rewind. I'm not actually opposed to the idea in principle, mostly because I am just sort of generally optimistic and willing to hand out benefits of the doubt like I'm Nicholas Parsons on Just a Minute, but also because done right, it could be pretty awesome. Ah. "Done right". There we go. By "done right", I obviously mean by someone (or several someones) who really understand what was so great about Blake's 7 (many things) and what could do with improvement, and who had the power and courage to stand up to any network interference on those fronts. And that brings us up to now, where it appears that that is exactly what we have not got. cut because of the lengthy ranting )

Ah, I feel better now. On less wrathful note, here is some casting news for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special that is filling me with joy. :D

- I really need to stop reading about Batman Inc #8, it's only making me unhappy. And I'm finding the way DC's been hyping it pretty distasteful - spoilers, though anyone who cares probably already knows ) The other frustrating thing is it's putting me off other comics - I was going to read the last volume of Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman run, which I KNOW is going to be both awesome and right up my alley, last night, but I just couldn't work up the enthusiasm. (Since DC has been having trouble with the word, I feel I should point out that this is what "toxic" really is: liable to put me off even largely unrelated comics, not "character with a fanbase that won't shut up about how poorly the said character has been treated".)

- Lack of posting recently is due to the fact that I have to do All The Things in the next few weeks, but am going to be away for a couple of weekends, oh dear. It's all doable, I've just got to get on with it and stop flapping around. (Oh, and I have a somewhat epic "things read in February" post on its way tomorrow...)

- One of the things is my Vidukon vidshow! It's getting there, though I'm having a surprising amount of trouble picking a Star Trek vid. Does anyone know any that are particularly spacetastic? (Or alternatively, does anyone fancy looking at my shortlist and giving me a second opinion? :D?)

- INFORMATION. Here is an excellent post on Blake's 7 and why you should watch it (spoiler: BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME) by [personal profile] thisbluespirit!

1) There is an anon love meme going on! I have found a few people's threads, but if you have one, let me know where it is so I can say inarticulate yet sincere things about how great you are. ♥

2) Does anyone know why LJ is so slow at the moment? It is really irritating, especially when I am trying to do newsletters. :/

3) I watched Blake's 7's "Warlord" and have some thoughts on it, not all of which are about the outfits!

spoilers, also vaguely for the next episode )
usuallyhats: Spaceship: the Liberator (liberator)
- Finished listening to "Legend of the Cybermen" last night, and I must confess that I was a little disappointed. spoilers ) Is "Night's Black Agents" worth listening to (given the above, or just in general)? I haven't heard it yet since BF seem to have had some trouble actually sending me the Companion Chronicles recently. Must email them.

- NEW LEVERAGE! more spoilers )

- Another thing I watched: Blake's 7, "Terminal". Another good episode! (I understand these are few and far between next season, alas.) Some brief thoughts: yet more spoilers )
usuallyhats: Spaceship: the Liberator (liberator)
Hurray, am caught up with Blake's 7! [personal profile] vilakins, you are right, "Death-Watch" was good. Here be a reaction post thing, consisting of notes I made while I was watching it + a bit of editing as I typed them up.

spoilers )

- I have not seen "The Lodger" yet due to Technical Difficulties - [livejournal.com profile] agapi42 and I were intending to go to an outdoor screening of it, but when we got there their box was broken so no Doctor Who for us. Instead we met up with my friend Rhiannon (who was also intending to watch Doctor Who but had been slightly delayed when she stumbled across an unconscious man with a nosebleed lying on the pavement), went for a nice meal and then caught the second half of Bridget Jones's Diary, so it was nevertheless a good evening.

- Am just really behind on telly stuffs in general, due to SUNSHINE. I haven't seen this week's [livejournal.com profile] b7rewatch episode yet, though we are now onto ones that I haven't seen before. I did watch last week's episode, "Moloch", last night, and, er, less said about that the better, I think, though I did enjoy Vila and Servalan bickering. Also, I want to watch more Legend of the Seeker, and next up on my Doctor Who watch is "City of Death", and Rhiannon lent me season three of The West Wing and I should really finish that and return it, and I am halfway through the second season of The Wire, and and and... What I really need is more hours in the day. Could someone arrange that for me please? Thanks.

- My love for Radio 4 is well documented, but I also feel the need to proclaim my love for Radio 7, which is also great. At the moment I am listening to: the early seasons of Old Harry's Game, which I missed first time round; lots of Dorothy L. Sayers (Gaudy Night starts on Friday!); season three of the New Eighth Doctor Adventures ("The Scapegoat" is up next, and so far I think this season has been excellent.). They are also broadcasting repeats of a lot of old children's programmes that aired on Radio 4 in the early nineties, which is causing a lot of JOYFUL FLAILING in people who are me. This week it is Time Hops, which I am very excited to relisten to, as I liked it so much the first time round. (The subject line is a quote from same which has stuck in my brain for about a decade.) It has a mouse scientist from the future, a killer bunny rabbit ditto, the Great Fire of London ("We did this in primary school! This isn't any old fire, it's the Great Fire of London!" Just think what else I could've stored in that bit of brainspace) and more time travel shenanigans than you can shake a stick at.

- Icon meme!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons. (unless you tell me not to bother!)
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

Here be my answers to the five things meme! (Any more for any more?) Also contains some pictures.

First, everyone should go and join [livejournal.com profile] b7rewatch! Especially people who've never watched it; it is really good, you won't regret it.

Second, I have just read my BBC7 newsletter and this week they are broadcasting an adaptation of Biggles Flies North read by Michael Palin, which I shall be listening to when I get home. I think BBC radio stuff should be available outside the UK, but this may have changed since they switched from Real Player to iPlayer, and I have no way of checking.

Third, Whoishly, EEE THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS IS OUT NOW! Er, sorry about the capslock, I have been looking forward to this for quite a while. I've only had time to listen to Benny's story so far, which I really enjoyed (I posted about it, with spoilers, at [livejournal.com profile] amongthedeadmen). Mostly what I want to say is "MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE!" - my one complaint with the main range is the lack of Eight, since he is my favourite, and I can't really afford to subscribe to the Eight and Lucie stuff too. Plus although I am fond of Lucie, C'Rizz and Charley, I don't love any of them nearly as much as I love Benny, Fitz (and Anji! Anji audios please!) and Izzy. And Fey! I would love to hear some Fey audios, since she has so little canon, really.

Speaking of Fey (does this count as fourthly? or third-b-ly?), I got Oblivion for my birthday, which I meant to review at the time but forgot. Anyway, I thought it was excellent, which is saying a lot given that I am generally not good at reading comics (I go straight for the words and forget to look at the pictures, oops). spoilers )

1. Apparently the BBC have decided to celebrate my birthday by ordering a six part Being Human series for BBC3. Well done, chaps.

2. Not to be outdone, Sky are planning a remake of Blake's 7. Dear Sky, do not make a hash of this or I will AV YER. Hugs and kisses, me. That being said I am actually vaguely optimistic about this. Done right, it could be pretty good.

3. Argh, all of the students seem to have left their brains at home today. Even the person who phoned up to renew his books hadn't considered that maybe he might need his library card to do so. Sigh.

More Blake's 7! Sarcophagus this time.

It has taken me about half an hour to write all that. Why is the library always covered in students on a Monday afternoon? It is vexing.
