[livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking went live last night/this morning, and I got MANY awesome things, which I am linking here so everyone can go and squee at them too:

a fab Eight/Brigadier icon from [livejournal.com profile] lindenharp;

a Middleman fic rec from [livejournal.com profile] tigerkat24 (and let me second that rec; if anyone hasn't read it, you must, it is PERFECT);

an awesome Maria and Rani fic from [livejournal.com profile] cosmic_llin;

not one but TWO Martha meets Buffy fics (my number one most wanted crossover EVER) - this one by [livejournal.com profile] sentientcitizen, which is lovely and shippy and has Martha the Vampire Slayer!, and this one by [livejournal.com profile] carawj which is fantastic and has Martha rescuing Buffy, ♥;

a really lovely Sarah Jane/Jo fic from [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42;

a completely adorable Perimem fic, with mix-tape from [personal profile] glinda.

and lots of lovely messages and holiday wishes, including Christmassy Buffy graphics from [livejournal.com profile] arenee1999!

And they are all brilliant and happy-making and I am feeling v. joyful as a consequence. ♥

- I have not seen "The Lodger" yet due to Technical Difficulties - [livejournal.com profile] agapi42 and I were intending to go to an outdoor screening of it, but when we got there their box was broken so no Doctor Who for us. Instead we met up with my friend Rhiannon (who was also intending to watch Doctor Who but had been slightly delayed when she stumbled across an unconscious man with a nosebleed lying on the pavement), went for a nice meal and then caught the second half of Bridget Jones's Diary, so it was nevertheless a good evening.

- Am just really behind on telly stuffs in general, due to SUNSHINE. I haven't seen this week's [livejournal.com profile] b7rewatch episode yet, though we are now onto ones that I haven't seen before. I did watch last week's episode, "Moloch", last night, and, er, less said about that the better, I think, though I did enjoy Vila and Servalan bickering. Also, I want to watch more Legend of the Seeker, and next up on my Doctor Who watch is "City of Death", and Rhiannon lent me season three of The West Wing and I should really finish that and return it, and I am halfway through the second season of The Wire, and and and... What I really need is more hours in the day. Could someone arrange that for me please? Thanks.

- My love for Radio 4 is well documented, but I also feel the need to proclaim my love for Radio 7, which is also great. At the moment I am listening to: the early seasons of Old Harry's Game, which I missed first time round; lots of Dorothy L. Sayers (Gaudy Night starts on Friday!); season three of the New Eighth Doctor Adventures ("The Scapegoat" is up next, and so far I think this season has been excellent.). They are also broadcasting repeats of a lot of old children's programmes that aired on Radio 4 in the early nineties, which is causing a lot of JOYFUL FLAILING in people who are me. This week it is Time Hops, which I am very excited to relisten to, as I liked it so much the first time round. (The subject line is a quote from same which has stuck in my brain for about a decade.) It has a mouse scientist from the future, a killer bunny rabbit ditto, the Great Fire of London ("We did this in primary school! This isn't any old fire, it's the Great Fire of London!" Just think what else I could've stored in that bit of brainspace) and more time travel shenanigans than you can shake a stick at.

- Icon meme!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons. (unless you tell me not to bother!)
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

- Finished watching Genesis of the Daleks yesterday. Thoughts:

spoilers )

- And then I watched Revenge of the Cybermen, the first new-to-me story since Planet of the Spiders. Reactions:

spoilers )

- It was my afternoon off yesterday; I had Grand Plans involving making a necklace tree out of wire and papier mâché (*scatters accents randomly*), but the wire I had was too thin, so I went up to the craft shop to get some better stuff, which they didn't have. So I made some earrings instead.

picture! )

- Two links, coincidentally both from Twitter: 1) Stephen Fry - sorry , Step Hen Free - reaches one million followers; triggers an event in the continuum. 2) Javier Grillo-Marxuach linked this fantastic picture of Natalie Morales and Matt Keeslar from the filming of the pilot episode of The Middleman, which I can't stop looking at. Am now attempting to make The Middleman be uncancelled through the power of MY BRANE.

Here be my answers to the five things meme! (Any more for any more?) Contains spoilers for: "The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse" (The Middleman),Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Spooks, DS9 and Buffy, most of which are probably common knowledge by now but better to err on the side of caution and all that. Also contains some pictures.

Some of these were v. hard. FIVE IS NOT THAT MANY :(

First day back at work after the Easter hols, and it's cold, grey, damp and gen'rally a bit miserable. Ho hum. The Easter holidays themselves were great; I saw lots of friends and family type people, which is always happymaking. It was actually sunny on Saturday so I went to the park with some school friends for a few hours, then we went back to Jess's to play games and eat homemade chocolate and cherry hot cross buns, om nom nom.

On Sunday Rach and Mark came down from Newcastle to visit, and by an astonishing feat of coordination I managed to meet them on the train at Cheltenham. Monday was a lovely sunny day so we went to Bath and ate our sandwiches in Royal Victoria Park, then wandered round Royal Crescent and down into the centre of Bath, poking our noses into the Assembly Rooms on the way. We bought ice creams and ate them on Pulteney Bridge, then meandered back along the river to the train station. Tuesday was not such a nice day, but nevertheless we had a picnic on Brandon Hill and then went to the Museum. We saw natural history, Egyptians and dinosaurs, all you really need in a museum, y/n?

On the telly front we watched the first two of the three Red Dwarf specials; I enjoyed them both but thought that the first was funnier than the second and that the presence of Actual CGI was unsettling. Then we watched nine episodes of The Middleman - I love watching programmes I love with people who haven't seen them before :D

All in all, a most satisfactory weekend, and now I am off to catch up on the internets and investigate this Dreamwidth thing wot everyone is talking about.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] velvetfascism! Hope you're having a lovely day.

Happy meme, day 2: I have just watched the last episode of The Middleman (the fact that it was the last one (ETA that I mean last in this season!) is not particularly happy, admittedly) and I love it to a fairly excessive degree. It is crazyfun, for starters, all the characters are fab, and it's made with so much love and care and attention. The fake swearing is genius and I am determined to use some of those phrases in everyday life. Quite a lot of the geeky references go over my head, sadly, but the one with all the Doctor Who references was brilliant. I squeaked out loud several times. I really want to watch the whole series again, which is quite rare for me - usually I like to wait a while so when I come back to it I can be surprised by the awesome bits all over again.
