Have had two weeks of lectures so far! Am enjoying them, though have not quite settled in yet. We are expected to do a lot of extra reading, but I am not quite sure what to read (it is not like English where it just goes: "read book/play/poem, read books/journals about said book/play/poem, go hmmm for a bit, move on with your life), so there is a fair bit of reading ejournals at random and going AAAAARGHHHH. But I got some books out of the library last night, which is a very reassuring thing to do, I find. One of this term's two modules is a management one and my coursework is to write a report; I have no idea what to write it on AAAAARGHHHH. Well, that is not quite true, I have ideas, but they are vague and amorphous (and possibly unworkable), so I need to catch one and pin it down. WITH PINS.

I am THISCLOSE to finishing a fic (which I have been thisclose to finishing for about a year, I must admit), so this seems like as good a time as any to mention again that I have a beta filter where I post nearly-done fics in the hope that anyone who is passing by and in the mood for some betaing will have a look at them and point out all my terrible errors. If anyone would like to be added to it, just give me a shout - I would be very grateful! It is not what you might call a heavy traffic filter, as you can tell by the fact that this is the first fic I have even come close to posting to it all year. (Yes, I completely flaked out on my tardis_bingo fic. And I still owe people stuff from fandom_stocking. OH SELF.)

Merlin was proper good this week, I thought. HOWEVER. ( spoilers )

(I did not watch The Waters of Mars; I find it much easier to be zen about New Who if I don't watch too much of it, also I cannot stand Ten. I watched The Sontaran Experiment instead, which was not that great but anything featuring the Four-Sarah-Harry team is A-OK by me.)

I worked on Saturday (and also ended up doing the late shift on Friday night), which was actually quite good as it was blowing a gale and tipping down with rain, so it was nice to be somewhere warm and dry. And when I arrived on Saturday morning there was a Mysterious Amazon Parcel waiting for me. "Strange," I mused, "I don't remember ordering anything. Am I maybe ordering things in my sleep now? That is not good." But it wasn't that - it was in fact a present from sparra and Mr. sparra (squee, thank you!)! So that was a v. cheering way to start the day. And then I checked my email and found my invitation to the Archive of Our Own had arrived! (I was 18th in the queue, hence the speediness.) I haven't done much with it yet apart from upload my fics and look around a bit, but it is so pretty and user friendly and well organised! I LOVE IT.

- Sign-ups are open in this year's dw_femslash ficathon, yay! I have not signed up myself due to inability to write shippy fic, but I am looking forward to seeing other people's fic (and also am totally willing to beta read/cheerlead for other people if any of you so desire!).

- I watched the first episode of the new BBC version of Emma last night, ( impressions rather than spoilers, but I like to err on the side of lj-cutting too much rather than too little )

- Tonight is FlashForward! I wasn't completely hooked by the pilot but I was intrigued enough to watch again. ( see above cut text )

- Yesterday I went round a bit of the Windmill Hill art trail with Rhiannon and Simon. Saw lots of art and jewellery and hats, plus got to nose around other people's houses (it's a sort of open house arrangement, people show their stuff in their living rooms), which is always fun. Didn't buy any art due to EXPENSIVENESS, but I did get a pretty pendant, which I am wearing right now.

- Quick question for people who subscribe to Big Finish's monthly range: have you had your Paper Cuts and Blue Forgotten Planet CDs yet? The downloads were out ages ago but mine haven't turned up yet :(
