various variousnesses

Argh, I typed a whole entry and then lost it. FAIL.
1.) Thank you to
glinda_penguin and
_catharine_ for the cards! ♥ (also,
glinda_penguin, have you seen this pattern from the new Knitty? I think it will appeal to you!)
2.) I don't know why, but I am terrible at posting and commenting at the weekends. I do read my flist, but something in the back of my mind keeps telling me that interneting at the weekends doesn't count. Sorry!
3.) Sat up til 1am on Friday night finishing The Book Thief, which I really recommend: it was amazing. The prose is deceptively simple, and the book is absolutely heartbreaking. (Seriously, consider this a warning: I was sobbing by the end, and would advise against reading the last hundred pages or so in public.)
4.) Also, Merlin happened. (This is the bit of my post that I am most annoyed about losing and having to retype.) OK. Since when did Morgana choose evil? Since when did she get to choose very much of anything? (With the possible exception of her Excessive Eyeliner of Vague Evilness.) She's been manipulated and lied to in story (the latter by THE HERO, argh), and out of story her character's been completely short changed. To be fair, I was never going to be a huge fan of Morgana going evil however it was done, but this is just ridiculous. And what happened to her relationship with Gwen? Are we just supposed to assume that they had a massive fight offscreen sometime between 2x03 and now? *sigh*
A couple of other things:
- Gaius's fixed grimace was TERRIFYING.
- Did Merlin really just shout a spell right into Arthur's ear? I am willing to accept a little bit of "so and so just happened not to hear/see [really incriminating thing] due to Plot", but this is just ridiculous. I shall be assuming that Arthur knows everything until told otherwise. Arthur bandaging Merlin's arm was sweet! (Dear Arthur, if you will insist on taking Merlin with you on your fighty expeditions, may I suggest that you get him some chain mail or similar? Kisses,
usuallyhats.)

Date: 15 Dec 2009 13:05 (UTC)I had not seen the new Knitty issue, but that pattern is very relevant to my interests! Also it can be made on circulars! *glee*
(Also, yay that you liked your card!)

Date: 16 Dec 2009 11:16 (UTC)I knit everything on circular needles nowadays, they're so much easier to handle than straight ones.

Date: 16 Dec 2009 11:24 (UTC)I cry at books all the time, because I am soft, but rarely quite as much as at The Book Thief.

Date: 15 Dec 2009 15:56 (UTC)- Gaius's fixed grimace was TERRIFYING.
OH MY GOD SERIOUSLY.
I don't know what happened with Morgana/Gwen either D: And the scene where Merlin poisoned Morgana broke my heart. I miss my big happy cracky OT4.

Date: 16 Dec 2009 11:27 (UTC)Me tooooo. D: I miss my episode reactions being along the lines of "hee, Arthur made Merlin wear a ridiculous hat!"
I got the impression that the end of The Book Thief was going to make me cry, so I timed my reading so as not to be at work when I got there.
