01. Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
If I am hungry. And if so I will eat whatever I have or am hungry for. Tea and cake, yum.

02. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
I don't usually (except one of the essays in a book about Firefly that I was reading annoyed me so much that I had to fill the margins with counterarguments), but I don't mind it, it's quite interesting seeing what other people thought. I wish people wouldn't highlight in library books, though.

03. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
I have a label off a top that I bought on holiday nearly eight years ago that marks my place. For some reason I always lose bookmarks but labels I can hang onto easily. I am guilty of lying books down flat if I'm only going to be gone a second, I admit.

04. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Almost always fiction, though I'd appreciate non-fiction recs too! The best non-fiction book I read recently was Kathryn Hughes's biography of Mrs Beeton. I liked her George Eliot biography too.

05. Hardcopy or audiobooks?
Hardcopy, it's more convenient and I find them easier to concentrate on. Though I like both and would dearly love to track down a copy of Willie Rushton reading Asterix in Britain, that was great.

06. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
I like chapters/breaks as it makes it slightly easier to force myself to put the book down and go to sleep. Otherwise I like to stop at the end of the first paragraph on the left hand page.

07. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Write it down to look it up later? Just try to infer what it means from the rest of the sentence, and keep going?
Usually I try and infer it from context, for I am indeed too lazy to go and look it up.

08. What are you currently reading?
Currently I am between books, which is a terrible state of affairs. I finished Stardust by Neil Gaiman at lunchtime and next up is... *checks book pile* A Pattern of Roses by K.M. Peyton, which I picked up when we were getting rid of some books in the library.

09. What is the last book you bought?
Fanny Burney's The Wanderer, or Female Difficulties and an updated version of The Discworld Companion. Both second hand, for I am cheap. I also got a couple of books for my mum for her book group.

10. Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can read more than one at a time?
I've usually only got one fiction book on the go at once, but I often have a few non-fiction things, short story collections and sometimes things in French going too. Currently: This Sceptred Isle, Short Trips: Steel Skies, In the Chinks of the World Machine: Feminism and Science Fiction, Ace! The Inside Story of the End of an Era, About Time vol 2 and Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You. Wow, that's more than I thought!

11. Do you like re-reading books?
Yes! Especially comfort books like Howl's Moving Castle and The Sword in the Stone.

Thanks! I'll have to experiment because my header picture is larger.
