usuallyhats: The cast of Critical Role sitting round a table playing Dungeons and Dragons (five tegan turlough)

- I got sucked into wikipedia this morning and on my travels I discovered that in 2000 the BBC made a version of Lady Audley's Secret, a Victorian sensation novel of which I am rather fond, with Jamie Bamber as George and Steven Mackintosh (who was Rokesmith in Our Mutual Friend with Paul McGann, and was also apparently in Timelash: this isn't even one degree of Doctor Who any more, is it?) as Robert. I really want to see this, but it was only ever released on video, so it looks like I'll have to trawl charity shops for it. Also, from IMDB it looks like they've cut the subplot where Robert runs into Clara, George's sister, and goes "you look exactly like George! Except you are a girl! So I can marry you! \o/" Which is a shame. When I read it I was hoping for a while that it would turn out that Clara was George in disguise, but it was not to be. And Clara was a pretty good character in her own right, so all's well that ends well.

- Someone nominated one of my fics for the [livejournal.com profile] smith_awards! Thank you, mysterious anon-type person, you made my day. The awards are based on reviews rather than votes (a positive review is +1, a negative review is -1) so I shall be interested to see what people have to say.

- Icon meme:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

[livejournal.com profile] wondygal gave me:

This is one of my favourite promo pics. They both look so happy and he's carrying her around and aw. I don't think we saw enough moments like this in the show: I don't mind the bickering but with the affection to balance it out it can get a bit much.

Oh, Ruth. ♥ She is my very favourite Spooks character. I like the way she's framed in this picture with the light coming in over her shoulder; I can't remember if the original cap was at that angle or if I rotated it, but either way I like it.

My main thoughts on this icon: PRETTY. It's very atmospheric and dreamy, and I love the way [livejournal.com profile] just_say_maybe has lightened the original image. Leela's outfit is lovely too.

Worrals! I must admit I'm not entirely happy with this icon (I have several other versions of it saved on my computer, heh) but it does have Worrals and I love her. Per ardua ad astra is the motto of the RAF - "through hard work to the stars" - and I think it's particularly appropriate for Worrals.

This icon makes me laugh; I love Five's put-upon expression.

The colouring on this icon is beautiful and I really like the crop too. Morgana is a great character, I'm looking forward to (if slightly nervous about) seeing what they do with her in season 2.

- In conclusion, here is a picture of Danny John-Jules with a kitten on his shoulder:

Your 'experiencing technical difficulties' icon always make me smile! I'd rather like to play this meme too.

Also everything is improved by Danny John Jules with a kitten on his shoulder :)

Ooh, your Worrals icon is lovely!

And I'm pretty sure I nominated you for an award - for the Dodo and Iris one, right? I love that one. :)

You could always try eBay for the vid - I got both "Downtime" and "Wartime" from eBay sellers...

I use it for hard to find things (eg. The Well Mannered War).

Heh. I tend to go looking for specific books myself, so saving the search makes it easier for me...

But treasure hunting sounds like fun!

LOL, I can understand that. I just worry about ending up wanting more stuff than I can afford to get...

Kitten!

The 'experiencing technical difficulties' icon always makes me laugh, too; and I love that one with Six and Peri very much because I love Six and I love Peri and it's so pretty!
