- Some thoughts on this week's Sarah Connor Chronicles: first of all, DON'T GET CANCELLED I MEAN THIS! That was a fantastic episode. Thomas Dekker in particular was great, he's been really impressing me this year. I was in tears when he was talking to Savannah about Derek, even though I find Savannah a little annoying (my tolerance for Cute Kids is very very low). And oh, Derek. His death was very well done, shocking and sudden without being overplayed, and a great reminder of how dangerous our heroes's lives really are, which I think the series needed. I shall miss him, though I think we'll probably see him again in flashbackforwardses. There's also the point that another version of him could be sent back from a different future, and though it would be interesting to see the Connors' reactions to the 'wrong' Derek, I hope the show doesn't go down that route: it would undermine the impact of his death as well as open up a can of worms with regard to sending back duplicates of other dead characters, like Riley or even Kyle, and I'm not sure the show would want to or should go there. Something else Derek related that I'm wondering about: given that Ellison mentioned up Andy Goode's murder again, is Sarah finally going to find out that Derek killed him? I think Jesse's the only one who knows Derek's side of that, so assuming she's not dead and will be coming back (which I am), that could be an interesting conversation. I can't see Sarah liking being beholden to Jesse for that bit of information.

I am beginning to think more and more that Weaver is on the same side as the humans, in her own way whereby she'll calmly sacrifice individual humans for the greater good, as that's the logical thing to do. I'm not sure if she's really and truly on the human side (probably the least likely option), against the Terminator faction that wants to wipe them out, or just in favour of an alliance between the two sides. That last one is something I've been thinking about for a while: we know individual Terminators, above a certain model at least, have some degree of autonomy and can make decisions about the best way to carry out their missions based on the situation - what if one or more of them decided that the war was too destructive, a waste of resources, and a truce would be a logical alternative? What exactly is Skynet after, anyway? (It's possible we know this last one already and I've just missed it/forgotten.)

One little thing: John protecting Savannah in the garage really reminded me of someone protecting John like that in T2. I can't remember who, though I'm assuming it was either Sarah or Arnie, or I'd draw some more conclusions from that. Maybe a rewatch is in order.

- My restore from saved draft text was words about Criminal Justice, which I've decided to hold off on posting until I've seen the whole thing, in case of unexpectedness in the last two episodes. I will say that I'm enjoying it, though it took me a while to get into it as I'm not hugely keen on the main character. Frances Kapoor is made of awesome, though.

- I read a lovely short story in on of the Short Trips books (Steel Skies) - "Light at the End of the Tunnel" by Mark Wright. It featured Five and Peri, whom I love, their voices were just spot on all the way through and the whole thing was a great take on the "why do people travel with the Doctor?" idea. Excellent work.

- This thing where it is still fairly cold? I do not like it. *shivers* The sensor that controls the heating at work has apparently decided that it is in fact boiling hot, and turned off all the radiators. Grrr.

- Also from the "things that are making me disgruntled" department, I am fed up of British Summer Time already and would like GMT back now kthnx. I can't get to sleep at night because it's too early, then I can't get up in the mornings and am dozy and grumpy all day. ARGH RUBBISH.

Oh dear! *hugs* Most people like BST 'cos it means it's light later in the evening...

Steel Skies is on my Amazon wishlist...

*hugs back* It is nice that it's light in the evenings, but it messes with my sleep patterns more than I'd like! Hopefully I'll get used to it eventually.

That's a nuisance! I'm lucky in that it usually only takes me a couple of days to get used to a time change.

I'm about halfway through and it seems like a fairly good collection so far.

Cool...
