The lift: still beeping. My brain: slowly turning to mush. ARGH.

Last night I listened to Gallifrey: Mindbomb and though I don't have a huge amount to say about it (I was quite tired and my brain lost track a few times), I just wanted to mention one moment that I liked, before I forget: the little exchange between Brax and Leela when he mentions that someone had the walls of the Presidential Office lined with lead, and she replies "I remember". Louise Jameson put so much affection into just two words; it was quite lovely.

Also yesterday I watched Sky's Hogfather adaptation. Well, to be strictly accurate I watched the first twenty minutes of it, as that was as far as I managed to get. WHY did they make Marc Warren do that voice? So irritating! What's wrong with his real voice? Maybe it was just because I was watching at the wrong time of year, but the whole thing seemed to lack sparkle. The opening sequence was so obviously CGI that I felt like I was watching a video game - a high budget one, but still. I did like their Susan, though.

Recently I have discovered that every time I hear the word "sleaze" I feel this strange urge to say "SLEEEEAAAZE!" whilst wiggling my fingers in the manner of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit. Usually I do not bother to resist this urge.

Looking at the Big Finish website it seems the October release is currently titled Castle of Fear. I hope this is right as it is an excellent title; tells you all you need to know. I was looking at the website because I had a feeling that being a main range subscriber would get me £5 off subscribing to the Companion Chronicles, but it doesn't seem to say that any more. Maybe I made it up. Never mind.

Funny that - I listened to Gallifrey: Mindbomb myself on Monday and I have to agree with you about Louise's note of affection.

I didn't think much of "Hogfather" either - and I actually watched it over the Xmas period. As a result I didn't bother watching the most recent adaptation.

*giggles at you saying "SLEEEEAAAZE!" in Wallace's manner* I added the DVD of "A Matter of Loaf and Death" to my Amazon wishlist yesterday.

Shame about the BF sub not offering you a discount on the Companion Chronicles.

Hogfather: I didn't even like their Susan. She seemed terribly flat to me. A better actress could have made much more fo the part.

But compared to the awful scenes of quaking wizards, she was High Art.

Oh that's good news about the discount!

I've tried it, believe me! (I'm fond of saying "Cheeeeeeeese Gromit" in Wallace's manner too! :P)

Just add the CC subscription to your basket and it automatically takes £5 off. I'm extremely tempted to get a subscription.

Castle of Fear? That's absolutely brilliant.

It's all about The Company of Friends for me this year, though. I don't think I've ever been as excited for a Big Finish release in my entire life.

I wasn't enormously keen on Sky's Hogfather either, apart from Susan. It DID lack sparkle. As did their The Colour of Magic, too. Very disappointing.

I'm really hoping it means we get some Eight and Fitz (and Anji!) or Eight and Izzy stories somewhere down the line. I know it's probably extremely unlikely, but I can dream, right?

I still haven't got a set actor in my head for Fitz - he's sort of a mixture of lots of different ones, although Callum Blue is definitely in there!

TOTALLY AVOIDING THE MINDBOMB SPOILERS AND IT'S REALLY HARD, DAMN IT. ;)

Um, yes. What I'm actually here to say is that I ended up rather liking that Hogfather adaptation, mostly because I really loved their Susan, but I'll definitely give you that Marc Warren's voice was possibly a mistake... *g*
