Silence in the Library, mostly written as I went along - some yay, a bit of "hmmm", mostly relating to Donna's characterisation this week, sadly. Oh! Also there is a vague spoiler for the EDAs.

Library World! LIBRARY WORLD! WANT. Looks a bit like New Earth though, the city bit from Gridlock.

"Did we just run away from a power cut?" hah.

Donna slapping Ten's hands away... ok, I'm shipping them a bit now.

"I lied, I'm always lying." Hee, I like her.

LOTS OF DAVES. :) OtherDave and ProperDave!

No, don't wander off on your own! Keep shouting! Shout at Donna, she'll listen. Ohhh I hate this trope.

Is Donna wearing her Roman earrings? I think she looks v. pretty this week.

The ghosting was creepy. But I couldn't help but notice they're all standing in the shadows.

Not a fan of Donna not getting the whole "River being from the future" thing. She is cleverer than that! Likewise on her not being able to conceive of the Doctor no longer travelling with her in the future.

The shadow thing is reminding me of that thing in the books where Eight lost his shadow for a bit. What was that all about, anyway?

Some of that did scare me a bit. I was sitting in my study watching the episode on my laptop (since my digibox has decided that wanting picture and sound together is just greedy) and I had to glance over my shoulder every now and then. But the ep didn't really sparkle for me - I've been having that problem a lot this season, so it's probably just me. There were lots of good lines though.

ETA: COLIN SALMON! Colin Salmon was in it and I totally didn't recognise him! FAIL. I loved him as the headmaster in Hex! (which I still haven't finished watching yet, no spoilers plz.)

Now I should probably go and do the washing up, sigh.

I find it hard not to. And the more they insist they aren't and couldn't be a couple, the more I chuckle and think: Isn't that how every classic romance begins? Beatrice and Benedick? Hmm?

Likewise on her not being able to conceive of the Doctor no longer travelling with her in the future.

I thought she understood it just fine: she was merely uncomfortable with the implication that it must mean she died.

Colin Salmon was in it and I totally didn't recognise him!

I've never seen him before, but I thought he was wonderful.

the Beatrice and Benedick thing - I love Much Ado About Nothing!

Yes - so do I!

and taken together with some of the other bits where Donna seemed almost jealous of River - it made me a bit twitchy.

Ah - I didn't get that impression; I must watch again and see what I think. I don't know if I'd like that or not. Usally I don't like jealousy themes at all, I prefer polyamorous stuff, but if it's a hint that Donna fancies Ten - it might be fun.

Come to think of it, he may have had a beard in Hex, maybe that was it.

Should I watch Hex? What is it?

Hex is about supernatural goings on at a posh English boarding school; it's heavily influenced by Buffy, but with more silliness, drinking and sex.

Oooh. Sounds like just my cup of tea. I am currently watching Buffy for the first time - just finished season 3.

After I'm through with Buffy I'll give Hex a try. Thanks for explaining!

I envy you being able to watch Buffy for the first time!

It's such fun - with new surprises all the time.

The trouble is that Moffat always sidelines the Companion in favour of his OC - he did it in TEC/TDD so we had more focus on Jack than Rose; then in TGitF we had more focus on Reinette than Rose (and Mickey); then in Blink, it was all about Super Sally Sparrow; so his focus on River Song at the expense of Donna is typical of the man. Presumably when the companions are *his* OCs, he'll treat them better...

Donna's characterisation was the only thing I really didn't like this episode. :( Mope, mope.
