you are the one you've been waiting for
Thursday, 2 January 2020 15:03I should probably have posted this before the end of last year. But I didn't.
Your main fandom of the year?
Still all Critical Role all the time, still very happy about it.
Your favorite film watched this year?
I loved Frozen 2. It was all about growing up, accepting change, and learning to embrace who you are, not just accept it. Also Elsa was such an aroace mood. She doesn't understand why Anna wants to make her dolls kiss! A pretty girl flirts with her and she doesn't really register that it's happening! The person she was looking for was herself all along! PERFECT.
Your favorite book read this year?
This is How You Lose the Time War, hands down. Turning Darkness Into Light is also going on my Hugo ballot for sure.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
I listened to the official Caduceus Clay playlist a whole lot. It's so good and so weird.
Your favorite TV show of the year?
I'm counting Critical Role for these purposes, I've barely watched any TV outside of that.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
I got into Gourmet Makes at the end of the year and Claire Saffitz is so good and grumpy and weird, I love her.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
A WHOLE YEAR with no new Thirteen. But she's back now and as fantastic as ever.
Your favourite male character of the year?
I love Caduceus Clay so much, friends. He's so soft and weird and judgy and possibly aroace, he's perf. Also his whole aesthetic is extremely good.
Your favourite female character of the year?
Probably Beau just wins this one? I've really enjoyed seeing her grow into herself and step up and try and do the right thing wherever she can. <3
Your favourite non-binary character of the year?
DAIRON. Seeing them mentor Beau and gradually, reluctantly start to care about the rest of the Nein has been extremely good.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Everything Critical Role related has basically just been excited yelling at various intensities, so it's hard to pick a specific moment, but watching the kickstarter rocket up was pretty great.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
You know, I thought this was going to be Star Wars, but being into Star Wars right now looks EXHAUSTING, I feel like I'm well out of it. I don't know that I miss any of my fandoms? I'm really happy with the ones I'm into right now.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
There's a few of the other Geek and Sundry RPGs that I've been circling for a while, like LA By Night and Callisto 6, but I haven't quite got to them yet.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
The Legend of Vox Machina being a REAL THING that I can watch with my REAL EYES, for sure. Also the kickstarter one-shots we haven't had yet: Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein! Ashley DMing! And ACTION FIGURES, there are going to be ACTION FIGURES, what is HAPPENING.
ALSO THE IN THE HEIGHTS FILM, I AM NOT READY, I MEAN LOOK AT THIS TRAILER, JUST LOOK AT IT.
Not making resolutions this year, that went poorly last year, but I did kick off the year by hanging out with friends, having brunch, knitting, and going for a walk along the river, which I'm hoping is auspicious.
That being said the GP did just tell me I need to drink more water as my blood pressure's a bit on the low side, so... maybe that.
