Trail of Lightning
I really enjoyed this post-apocalyptic Native American urban fantasy novel. I did have some reservations about the portrayal of its one (1) gay character, and I feel like the plot and emotional arcs didn't quite match up like I wanted them to, but it was a great read and even the romance was basically fine. And I loved the prickly, bad tempered, traumatised heroine; I look forward to more of her adventures.

(content notes: graphic violence, child death, cannibalism, emotional abuse, sexual assault, some ableist language)

Paper Girls
I blazed through the first four volumes of this comic in an hour or two, and it was a great ride. I really appreciated how distinctly characterised the four protagonists were - it grounded the story nicely amidst all the time travel shenanigans. The art was great, too - Cliff Chiang's work is so stylish, and Matt Wilson's colours made it shine. And Chiang is also very good at drawing children who look like children, not weird small adults.

(content notes: homophobic language; there's an incident of this very early on that nearly caused me to nope out altogether, but I'm very glad I didn't)

Black Panther: Long Live the King
I had high hopes for this comics collection, but in the end it was just ok. The first three issues (written by Nnedi Okorafor) were a reasonably solid story about... sentient vibranium, I think? But Andre Araujo's art style sadly did not work for me at all, so it was hard for me to connect with the story overall. The next two issues (written by Aaron Covington) were an extremely standard runaround - not bad exactly but just sort of there. Shuri was in it, which was something? The final issue (Okorafor again), about a disabled Nigerian girl bonded with the Venom symbiont, had a lot of potential, but one issue just wasn't enough to do justice to it.

Kingdom of Copper
I LOVED this and I had a LOT of feelings and I am taking it as a PERSONAL INSULT that the third one isn't out yet. (I have to say though I wasn't thrilled about the use of a false rape accusation as a plot point? But otherwise I adored this.)
