Archivist Wasp
I found this incredibly compelling. It's set in a dystopia a lot bleaker and more violent than I usually prefer, but the main character, Wasp, felt so true and was so quietly... endearing, I suppose? It seems like too soft a word for her, but I can't think of a better one. And it was very definitely a book that was ultimately full of hope. I'm so glad there's already a sequel (Latchkey, see below).

Under the Pendulum Sun
Much creepier and darker than I usually like, but so absorbing and interesting.

The Cobbler's Boy
Kit Marlowe, boy detective! Friends, I loved this. The writing was captivating (I wasn't sure about the thees and thous at first, but once I got into it they started working for me) and Kit's burgeoning romance with his friend Ginger was very sweet and well done. I also really loved the portrayal of his sisters. It's definitely the kind of historical fiction that feels lived in, where the authors have clearly done their research but wear it lightly. I hope there will be more.

Latchkey
This was amazing. Wrenching, satisfying, brutal, compassionate, hopeful, glorious.

(Also it is SO REFRESHING to read a book containing absolutely no romance.)

Vox Machina: Origins
More accurately 3.5 stars. Vex's characterisation was way off for a lot of this, but her scenes with Keyleth were pretty great (I loved all the Keyleth stuff, actually), and it was a fun read overall. I really enjoyed the art, too.

Didn't finish: The Kindly Ones - Melissa Scott
I'm trying to be better at not reading things I'm not excited to be reading, and this fell under that for me. There's nothing wrong with it, it's entirely fine, and on paper it's exactly the kind of thing I want to be reading (ie it's in space and there are queer people in it), I just don't feel any particular enthusiasm to continue it.
