The Curse of Chalion
This was a reread and a really good call. I love fantasy novels like this where the world and the characters feel so complete and well realised, and I can just sink delightedly into them. (I hated the romance, though, everyone try and contain your shock.)
The Henchmen of Zenda
This had a lot working against it - I don't like reading about people who are basically a bit terrible, plus the romance didn't quite land for me (insert obligatory disclaimers here) - and yet I loved it anyway, at least partly because of the strong platonic m/f relationship motivating the main character.
Didn't finish: Toil and Trouble
This graphic novel is a retelling of Macbeth from the witches' point of view. I wanted to like it, but I just... didn't. The writing wasn't great, the character's motivations didn't really ring true, and the treatment of Lady Macbeth didn't work for me. It's worth noting that I love Macbeth and know it very well, though, so it's very possible I just have really high standards for retellings.
