SO BUSY TODAY. The PGCE students were in and they were busily printing and returning books and borrowing more. Alas, I seem to have knackered my wrist a bit so moving books around is a bit painful if I twist it the wrong way. It's not stiff or swollen or anything, so I've probably just slept on it funny and it'll sort itself out in a day or two, but until then, ow ow whinge moan complain.
I saw Antony and Cleopatra on Saturday! It was a great performance, if slightly too long. The woman playing Cleopatra was very good, the whole thing came to life in her scenes. I liked the fact that they had the same actors playing Antony, Lepidus and Augustus as in Julius Caesar, it gave a nice continuity to the whole thing. Also, the costumes were pretty and the drunk scene was hilarious. Afterwards, we went back to my flat and played games and watched Iron Man. I love that film.
I spent Sunday afternoon watching the last three episodes of The State Within - I saw it when it was originally broadcast, but I spent episode one trying to learn to crochet and missed episode two altogether, so it was a bit hard to follow! Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. OK, some of it was a bit preposterous - "let's arrest all the British Muslims in Virginia! What could possibly go wrong?" - but overall I thought the plot fitted together pretty well, and it was nicely twisty. It was very well made, the shots of the plane crash, with Mark (NB NOT ROB) Brydon in the foreground were spectacular. Jane Lavery started off a bit tremulous, but got over it to become Quite Good, and I would happily watch "The Amazing Adventures of George Blake, FBI," because she was awesome. Especially when she made Nicholas hold up MacIntyre's body so she could shoot it again. ♥ Nicholas's "!!!!" reaction to that was also great. I thought the ending worked well - despite all their efforts, they might still not have stopped the war, which was a nice moment of realism. I also liked the bit where Nicholas turned out to be a good guy after all and he and Mark pooled their knowledge and teamed up. And the child was in it less than I remembered, which is always a good thing.
Also this weekend, I made a new wallpaper for my computer, yay. Doctor Who related, of course.
