"It must be thrilling to own that many newts."
Sunday, 21 December 2008 19:41Things I have been doing this weekend:
- Baking! I've made white chocolate and cranberry cookies and slightly misshapen mince pies. That recipe made far too much mincemeat; does anyone know if I can freeze it?
- Rhiannon and Simon came round and we played Articulate!, lots of fun and good practice for the vast amount of games I am planning to play over Christmas.
- Listening to seasonal audios; the BBC productions of The Dark Is Rising, The Snow Queen and A Child's Christmas in Wales, plus the Big Finish Christmas podcast, which I love for its slight amateurishness. Every now and then you can hear a bingly bong noise as one of them gets an email, and at one point they stop to answer the phone.
- Watching Jeeves and Wooster. One of the many things I love about it is the fact that amongst the Drones Bertie is considered to be a Great Brain, and by their standards... he kind of it.
- Also watching the Strictly Come Dancing finale. I thought Tom was the weakest of the three most of the way through but his show dance was fab and had me giggling by the end so well done him.
- Completely forgetting that I'd volunteered to do yesterday's
soniclipstick, oops. But luckily I volunteered for today's as well so I can just do a bumper edition and pretend it was on purpose.
- Being annoyed that nowhere sells tinsel! This is quite ridiculous. I tried Woolies, the Christmas pound shop that has replaced the post office (cue wailing, gnashing of teeth and huge queues at the other post office), WH Smiths and Sainsbury's; no luck. Boo!
- And now I am watching Lark Rise to Candleford, oh, Christmas TV, how I love you. ETA Sheridan Smith is in it! Hiiiiii Lucie!
