Last week, I decided that if I disliked The Doctor's Daughter I wouldn't post about it, because I don't like always being negative. But I have quite a few good things to say about it, so here we go:

I really liked Jenny. Her adorable expression of pride when she told the Doctor that she didn't kill that guy won me over. Georgia Moffet did a great job, too. Though the gratuitous backflips were just as silly as they looked in the trailer.

I wish we had had more Donna 'n' Martha scenes, the one at the beginning in particular was really nice and Martha feels more like S3 Martha in her scenes with Donna than any other time. The bit when Martha was grinning and waving at the Hath was lovely too, as was her being all doctorly with the Hath in the cell.

Donna was marvellous this week, shouting at the soldiers about Martha, telling the Doctor he was wrong, working out the date thing (which was also a neat twist, though I have this nagging feeling I've seen it before and can't remember where), inviting Jenny along. Clearly she also thinks that bigger TARDIS teams are good. Her line about the running! LOVE.

Credit where credit's due, I still don't like Ten but there were two bits in this episode that were very good, in the cell when he was talking about what happened to the Time Lords, and the scene where he told Donna about his family.

Let's not talk about the science in this episode. I think it will be for the best.

One niggle - I really didn't like Jenny getting shot, it was just to avoid dealing with the question of whether she'd go with them or not and to give the Doctor a chance to do some more shouting about morality. Also, the lack of blood made me annoyed, as it's a pet peeve of mine - yes, it's children's tv, but if anything I think that means you should be more conscienctious about showing the icky consequences of violence. Within reason, of course, but no blood at all? Pah. It reminds me of the end of season 1 of the new Robin Hood, where there was a big battle with no blood at all, and the only people who died were guards, whose faces we couldn't see. But on the other hand, it did set up Jenny zooming off to save the universe by herself, which I did like.

And next week's looks pretty fun, too.
