"So you had breakfast... and then you killed him?"
Friday, 2 January 2009 14:04Hello, hello, happy New Year! Have been a bit fail at the internet recently - have been skimming my flist and doing newsletters, but not commenting or replying to comments or anything like that, sorry. New Year's resolution #1: be better at commenting! Also, I made a start on reading some Yuletide fic but have only got as far as fandoms beginning with B, oh dear.
Christmas happened and it was fab. "You've won all the games and my hat doesn't fit," my sister told me glumly on Boxing Day. Although the latter is undoubtedly a tragedy, the first bit, although somewhat exaggerated, is quite a good thing if you are me. We have played a lot of games this Christmas: my family has one of those hard-disk recorder boxes, so rather than desperately watching stuff to free up tape to record more stuff, we have been blithely setting the box to record anything we might even vaguely consider watching and fishing out Careers or The Game of Life or similar instead. I did watch Wallace and Grommit, what was lovely, and The Thirty-Nine Steps, terribly fun, and that was all I really wanted to watch so there we go. Also I found a mighty trove of Big Finish books in the sale at Waterstones, hurrah. I have been reading The Inside Story and it is great, a really good read. I made flailyhands at the revelation that Paul McGann has in fact read some of the EDAs, and RTD's introduction was quite lovely and had an adorable little cartoon with it too.
I was going to do a review of the year meme of some sort, but there were an awful lot of questions and I haven't really done anything all that interesting this year anyway, so never mind. I did read 113 books last year, that was quite good. Here is a list of them:
( from Tulku to Redemption Ark )
Quite a good mix apart from the fact that 55 of them were in some way Doctor Who books, oops.
Now I am getting hungry so I shall go and eat some things.
