Thursday, 25 December 2008 23:00Happy Christmas, everyone! I hope you all had/are having a lovely day, whether you're celebrating or not. :) I have had a fab day with my family, full of shiny presents and yummy foods and games and whatnot.
Yesterday was unexpectedly exciting; the power went off at 7.40am and didn't come on until the evening, ooo er and things. Luckily our next door neighbours had a) power and b) an outside plug so my dad chucked an extension cable over the wall (er, we did ask first...) and we managed to plug in the fridge/freezer, the boiler (hot water and central heating!) and some lamps, so it wasn't too hairy. We scrounged up all the candles we could find ("these are the last of the candles from the Miner's Strike," commented my mum in a voice of great portent) and played Monopoly all afternoon, and occasionally said things like "I'm just going to check my email... no I'm not". We got about twenty minutes of Christmas music out of my sister's laptop before the battery on that died. And then at 7.15, lo, there was a great whirring noise as of the power being restored to the video player. And there was much rejoicing amongst the populace.
