Date: 1 Jan 2012 16:56 (UTC)It's interesting that I have quite a few other of these books, just never read them yet - Half of a Yellow Sun I bought four years ago, How To Suppress Women's Writing I bought this year, etc. I have far too many unread books!
I will give myself brownie points for the Mariama Ba - I was thinking and thinking, did I read that? I think I read that! I looked it up and, duh, yes I have read it - as Une Si Longue Lettre, the original French, in a university French literature class many years ago (I am old). I still have it upstairs. :)

Date: 2 Jan 2012 11:15 (UTC)I definitely recommend both of those! (I have far too many unread books too, but I also get twitchy if I don't have plenty of things on hand to read, in case of emergency. ;D)
Ooo, awesome! I thought about trying to read it in the original, but sadly I think my French is far too rusty. :(
