Thursday, 12 July 2007 19:511. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
1)Left or right handed?
Right handed, though we used to spend a lot of time in Maths lessons practising left handed writing. Also when it comes to sport and suchlike I am fairly sure I am ambisinstrous - incompetent with both hands.
2)Did you read Enid Blyton and if so, which series was your favourite?
I did indeed. It comes down to a choice between Famous Five and Mallory Towers. Hmm, decisions. I really identified with George but I also wanted to go to a school like Mallory Towers - no, wait! I know! My favourites were the "...of Adventure" ones. They were great. One of them mentioned racing demon and how hard it is to play if you have long hair. Many many years later I learned the truth of that statement...
3)Beano or Dandy or neither?
Beano definitely. I had much love for it and read it for an embarrassingly long time. The bash street kids were ace and also sometimes there were free sweets. *happysigh*
4)Silver or gold jewellery?
Silver. I bought a new silver bracelet inna charity shop on Tuesday and I love it muchly.
5)Favourite flavour of ice cream?
My mum's gooseberry mallow ice cream. It is delish. I made some myself which was v. nice but not quite as good... The contrast between the sharpness of the gooseberries and the sweetness of the marshmallows is just lovely. And the marshmallows also make it a bit chewier than ice cream usually is. In fact you know what, I'm just going to post the recipe so y'all can try it too.
Gooseberry Mallow Ice Cream
12 white marshmallows
6oz can evaporated milk
1/2lb fresh or frozen gooseberries
3oz caster sugar
1/4 pint double cream
1. Place marshmallows and evaporated milk in a small bowl and stand in a pan of warm water to melt the marshmallows. Stir until smooth, cool.
2. Place the gooseberries in a pan with two tablespoons of water. Cover and cook gently for about five minutes until the skins burst and the fruit softens.
3. Stir the sugar into the warm fruit then whirl in an electric blender until just smooth. Cool, then stir into the marshmallow mix with the lightly whipped cream.
4. Spoon into a deep freezer proof container and freeze until required. Do not churn.
Leave the ice cream to soften in the freezer for 1/2 hour - hour before eating. Goes very well with macaroons. There is also a sauce which involves cooking 1/2lb gooseberries with 2oz golden syrup and two tablespoons of water gently until the gooseberries are soft, and then sieving, but I am not organised enough for this bit.

Date: 12 Jul 2007 21:24 (UTC)And yes, Beano! I still buy the annuals. The Bash Street Kids are great. Although the Numbskulls being mates with the friendly bacteria? What?
Recipe sounds interesting, maybe I'll try it in a couple of years when I can.

2. Were you the sort of little girl who liked ponies, or the sort who liked ballet? Or both? Or neither?
3. If your biros run out do you chuck them out straight away or hang onto them in case they're feeling better later?
4. If you won the lottery what is the first silly thing that you'd buy?
5. Who are your heroes?
