Possibly if I am going to continue to witter on about Voyager to this extent, I should add myself to the
trek_news watch list...
2.) Continuing with my Doctor Who series 5 rewatch, I have now confirmed that the only reason "Vincent and the Doctor" didn't make me cry first time round was because I was watching it in a group. D: Luckily I had planned ahead and left myself time to watch "The Lodger" as well, which sets my face to a permanent state of :D - I am just overwhelmed by SHEER JOY at how charming it is. Eleventy airkissing people made me laugh every time. ♥

1.) Further thoughts on Voyager; am now up to "Ex Post Facto":
- This has always bothered me: why isn't training more doctors and nurses a higher priority? As soon as they have a big space battle, or the holoemitters break, they're going to be in trouble. (I would add something here about maintaining a permanent hologram being a drain on power, but since a) the writers made sure to establish early on that holodeck power can't be used for anything else (thus allowing themselves the possibility of many Shenanigans In The Holodeck episodes down the line) and b) I am basing my assumptions about how much power holopeople use on that episode of Red Dwarf where they're running out of power and try to get Rimmer to switch himself off for the greater good (THE GREATER GOOD) (SPOILER: he is not impressed by this idea), I will refrain.) ...this is something I'm just going to have to get over, isn't it?
- "The Cloud" kept hitting my embarrassment squick, between the scenes in the holobar and the spirit quest stuff (I am working off the basic assumption that Voyager's attempts to do anything with Chakotay's background generally lead to D:), but I did manage to take my fingers out of my ears for long enough to catch the bit about B'Elanna trying to kill her spirit animal (OH B'ELANNA ♥) and Janeway hustling everyone at pool ♥ ♥ ♥.
- I really liked the conversation between Janeway and Kes about the EMH in... whichever episode it was in. It was very grown-up: just Janeway listening to what Kes had to say and taking her seriously and eventually deciding that she might have a point. I don't know, I just thought it was nice.
- "Eye of the Needle" didn't do much that was particularly exciting plotwise, but it was really well executed - Telek was a great character, and I loved the little scene where B'Elanna and Harry are talking about their families. ♥
- Surely someone has 'shopped a deerstalker and pipe onto Tuvok for the end of "Ex Post Facto"? DO NOT FAIL ME, INTERNETS.

This is true, no exceptions. D:

Date: 28 Mar 2011 16:39 (UTC)I also love B'Elanna, so will look forward to that episode! I've been enjoying season one so far, but that may be at least partly due to me currently being in "new (old) fandom related joy" mode about Voyager. :D

Date: 28 Mar 2011 17:47 (UTC)And you're so right about Sickbay. In one of the later episodes it's established that there are a handful of people onboard who aren't really suited to their jobs - why didn't they at least try them in Sickbay instead? Even a couple of extra pairs of hands in a crisis might have helped...

Even a couple of extra pairs of hands in a crisis might have helped...
Exactly! Even giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that all the Starfleet people have really good first aid training, Tom and Harry didn't seem to be able to even identify half the gadgets the Doctor was asking for! Just teaching someone enough to be able to hand him things would've helped...

(OMG VIDUKON SO SOON. :D)
Also yay for Voyager thoughts! Even if I have nothing very insightful to say back to them.

You can be sure that I didn't tear up over the sight of a pump house though.
Hah!
