- Two Christmas cards arrived for me on Saturday! (One of them was from
cosmic_celery - thank you!)
- Also on Saturday, I went to see Richard II at the Tobacco Factory, which was excellent, as the Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory season always is.
-
paranoidangel has already posted lots of excellent photos of the exhibition part of the Doctor Who Experience, so I will just post a few of the ones that I took:
This is what it would look like if I were a companion:

(in the 80s)

(in the RTD era)
Getting up close and personal with a Dalek (a la Katy Manning, only clothed, due to not wanting to get thrown out):

A VERITABLE PANORAMA OF DALEKS:

This was my favourite bit, a mock up of a set/props designer's office, full of sketches, pictures, little models and bits and pieces from the set:

Fun with the night landscape setting on my camera:

- Book meme, from all over the place:
The book I am reading: I've just started reading Inkheart, though by "just started" I mean I have read one page. I'm also reading Managing Change for Library Support Staff, for an essay that I am absolutely going to start writing any day now. And I have nearly finished Birds of Prey: Of Like Minds, having decided recently to work my way through all the Birds of Prey books that my library has. So far this has proved to be an excellent decision.
The book I am writing: None at present.
The book I love most: YOU CANNOT MAKE ME CHOOSE JUST ONE. But if you did, it would probably be The Once and Future King, which is a slight cheat as it is sort of also four books.
The last book I received as a gift: The last two books I got for Christmas were Coronets and Steel by Sherwood Smith and Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones. Haven't read either of them yet, though, since they had to go to the bottom of the book pile. That is the rule.
The last book I gave as a gift: I bought The Sister The Rough Guide to Southeast Asia on a Budget for Christmas, don't think I've given anyone any books since then.
The nearest book on mydesk table: There are piles of library books on my table; I think the closest is the Every Child Matters report, which is sticking out of the bottom of the "books for uni" pile.

(um, hi! :) I was wandering through the Friends Friends page and found your journal and enjoyed reading your journal! So, I suppose this comment is talking about books and a drive-by friending warning! :) )

Date: 7 Mar 2011 19:49 (UTC)Do you know by any chance if the Shakespeare season in Bristol last until May? I've never seen Richard II on stage, and my stay in the UK would be such a wonderful opportunity.
Oh, and speaking of travelling to the UK: I'll be in Bristol from May 21st (afternoon) to May 24th (morning). I've booked my accommodation, so it's more or less official. Also, I bought travel guides, and Bristol looks like such a great place to visit. Wheee!

Date: 7 Mar 2011 21:23 (UTC)Alas, Richard II ends a week on Saturday, and the other one they're doing (Comedy of Errors) finishes at the end of April, otherwise they'd've definitely been on my list of fun things to do in Bristol! There's a Shakespeare related play, fairymonsterghost, at the Old Vic, though - that looks like it could be good. Or interesting, at least.
In the Experience bit you get to go right into Eleven's TARDIS! And it flies! (Well, it goes up and down.) It was AWESOME.
