The Last of the Timelords: I think mostly I am ambivalent? It was very exciting while I was watching it and there were bits I definitely liked but I dunno. I sort of feel like I've been left on hold until next year. Here are some thoughts for what they're worth:

ONE YEAR LATER?!

Martha's a legend, oh yes. I love her new look. And she's saving the day with words and freedom of thought and that is so good.

Ye aged make up is still a bit rub (I was just getting used to it and then they brought in the goblin baby) but Lucy's dress is wonderful. What's up with her face though? Looks like there's red bruises around her eyes. Hmm. I assume she will be back next year based on last scene bit? There was maybe a plan between her and the Master or something? Oh I don't know!

Oh, they are coordinating, yay! And it looks like they haven't got Leo yet too. Though this turned out to be pretty irrelevant which was a shame.

QUARRY!

Hurray, flirting! Flirting that will be important next year when Martha comes back with her boytoyfriend in tow? Maybe?

Martha being all doctory, fantastic.

...glowy flying Doctor? What?

Bit of a cheat to put it all back, would like to see a "rebuilding earth" thingy. I liked the epicness, occupied Earth thing they had going on for a bit. But I suppose they would have to put everything back or next series could end up being even more Earthbound than before which would annoy me.

Lovely lighting and stuff in the quarry with the Doctor and the Master. I hope and assume that there will be icons of this.

Oh no Martha don't go! Oh she must come back. Though if she doesn't at least she got to choose to leave. I am focusing more on the leaving to help her family and live her life than leaving because he doesn't fancy her for the sake of my brain. And she knows that she isn't second best and - it's not that she thinks she's better than Rose, or even not-better than Rose, she is now confident enough in herself to know that she is great and that comparisons are just unhealthy. It's not about Rose any more, it's about Martha and her own self belief. ARGH David Tennant is saying things on the Confidential like "The person who effects change is not the one who gets to enjoy it" which - reduces Martha to just a catalyst for the Doctor rather than a character in her own right. DO NOT WANT. (he is also saying "she'll be back" which is good though.) Seriously I would feel pretty betrayed, or at the very least cheated, if Martha turned out to be just there to make the Doctor get over Rose. It would be such a disservice to the character, who I really love and feel invested in. Gnah, this is want I meant above about being on hold - I don't know how to feel about this development and I've a feeling I won't until I see how next year plays out.

AHAHAHA Jack really is the Face of Boe AHAHAHA wonderful.

LOLS, Titanic!

I want Martha to come back too, and not be rebound Companion :( She's cool. Although, I did read a rumour (from the Mirror, so of course I dismissed it out of hand initialy) that she's not going to be in DW4 much, but she's going to start showing up in TW. I think she should defect to Torchwood permanently, she'd fit in better there. And Martha and Ianto getting together would be the best thing evah. (Much as I love Jack/Ianto, the boy deserves better - I wanted to slap Jack so hard after that bit in Sound of Drums about "It's like when you fancy someone but they can't even see you" *meaningful glance* "You too, huh?" Warm up the Clue-by-Four...)

Ye aged make up is still a bit rub (I was just getting used to it and then they brought in the goblin baby)
They turned the Doctor into Dobbie the House Elf! WTF! And glowy flying Doctor was a bit wank, wasn't it. I did like the scenes between him and the Master (who, let's face it, will be back, hence Lucy picking up the ring). They were really sad.

I thought putting it all back the way it was was a bit of a cheat too, but I suppose it solves the problem of DW/TW continuity (lack thereof - will the Himalayas jaunt get a mention?). Also it sort of solves the issue of where exactly the Scooby Gang were for the year that never was, because you could just assume they got promptly killed off (oooh the angstfic potential!). I refuse to believe all four of them got taken in by the mind-control thingy, given that all Torchwood One employees were given some psychic training to resist that sort of thing.

Jack really is the Face of Boe
That just broke my brain :) Although, thinking about it, it's mad me feel quite sad for Jack because now we know a) that he's never going to get fixed, and b) how he's eventually going to die. Although I thought the Face of Boe was supposed to be legendary (the same way the Time Lords were, I mean), so how come Jack hadn't heard of, um, himself?

Finally, the person who designed the Toclaphen (?sp) so got the Tachen big book of HR Giger for Christmas - can't decide if that was cool or not.

I just read the saddest fic about the whole Jack-is-the-Face-of-Boe thing:
You Are Not Alone (http://chughes1147.livejournal.com/20285.html)

But yeah, it is a shame that they've just set the timeline, so to speak, as far as Jack's distant future is concerned.

Likewise, Torchwood Three being reject corner, I think that's half it's charm. Again, good fic about that:
