  • Watched Primeval, which I am watching this season, except that I missed last week's episode, whoops. Anyway. I never quite love Primeval as much as I want to, but it often has lots of awesome bits that make me v. happy, as, for instance, this week: Abby and Emily, in their cocktail dresses, hunting dinosaurs, armed with HALBERDS. (Sidenote: EMILY IS AWESOME, PLEASE CAN WE KEEP HER FOR EVER? (Sidenote to the sidenote: ABBY IS ALSO AWESOME.) Also, Abby and Connor going :D! when Jenny invited them to her wedding! And Lester conducting the actual ceremony, with his usual tone of "I find everything about this very tiresome." And Connor's face as he was holding the laptop up! Also everything about Jess, though I feel I should point out that one cannot cut wires with a pair of pliers, what are you doing? Oh well.

  • Boggled at how a Guardian columnist managed to take "two men make sexist comments" and explain how it was really all the fault of THE WIMMENZ. The argument, so far as I could gather, went something like: women have been infecting society with their dreadful need for CONVERSATION, which leads to the terrible scourge of BANTER, which leads INEVITABLY to people getting caught saying sexist things. (I exaggerate a little.) Also I am very very tired of the "women don't understand the offside rule!" meme. It is not some magical thing that all men are born knowing and all women can never possibly comprehend. In fact the list of people who know it includes me, a woman who cares nothing for the football at all.

  • Failed to remember that I cannot make curry that actually tastes of anything, no matter what recipe I follow. :( And I have leftovers of it to eat tonight. Boo.

  • Felt as if my weekend was a bit of a busman's holiday at times, since I spent an awful lot of it reading about libraries. It was pretty interesting, though!

  • Watched some more festivids! Still not all the way through, but here is another handful of recs:
    - The Owl Moans Low (Lost In Austen)
    - After All (SJA)
    - Who Needs Enemies (DS9)
    - Resistance (TNG)

We have a lovely recipe for a spinach and minced lamb curry which can not fail, I promise you!

Speaking of recipes, any chance I could get the wondrous (sp?!) brownie recipe at some point?

It's fine, no rush! Would just be good to have it in :) I can send you the curry recipe if you like? It's from a Slimming World cookbook so it's even healthy!! :/ Hehe...

Women don't understand the offside rule? Dude: when your team is on the attack, no one on your team may cross the blue line (into the opponent's defensive zone) in advance of the puck. That's easy! ;)

Hee!

(Also, I googled the offside rule in association football. So now I know two, too!)

I also know the offside rule; it's not even that fiendishly complicated! I can make curries, but I cannot bake a cake. The last three attempts have yielded: apple cakes with odd, sour-tasting green bits in [blaming old baking powder], really heavy and sticky blackberry muffins [ditto, had forgotten :S] and crusty vanilla fairy cakes [oven temperature not right..] I don't think I had much success with previous attempts either!
I think using the Patak's curry pastes might be a good start.. Jamie Oliver has some recipes using them which have turned out well :)
Hope the flat is not as cold as it was and the study is getting done :)
