usuallyhats: The cast of Critical Role sitting round a table playing Dungeons and Dragons (team tardis season 31 style)

Things I did yesterday:

- managed to get through my first assessed group presentation without falling over or anything, I'm calling that a win. Well, winnish, anyway. Public speaking is not exactly my forte.

- took down all the Christmas decorations, sadface. (Though, that reminds me: thank you for the cards, [livejournal.com profile] nentari, [livejournal.com profile] revolutionaren, [livejournal.com profile] oxymoron67 and [livejournal.com profile] ghost2! ♥)

- managed to make things for more [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stockings than I feared, but fewer than I'd hoped. So apologies in advance if you don't get anything from me, and rest assured that it is only because I am incompetent.

Other things I have been meaning to post about:

- I have registered for VidUKon! I've never been to a convention before, but this one looks like fun and is about vids, which I love, and is near me, AND [livejournal.com profile] carawj and [livejournal.com profile] cosmic_llin are going, all of which adds up to :D

- Jess texted me last night to tell me that last night's Thinking Allowed had a section on Doctor Who in it, starting at about 4'20! Haven't had a chance to listen to it myself yet, but thought I would link it for anyone else who might be interested.

- Speaking of Doctor Who, I never posted about the Christmas Special, did I? Short form: I really loved it, apart from some stuff that was mostly external to the episode itself. That being the fact that it was yet another story about heterosexual white people in which the woman gets (literally, in this case) fridged - which wouldn't be that much of a problem, if it wasn't for the "yet another" in there. But otherwise, I really really loved it. IT WARMED MY HEART. Here, have some bullet points!
  • Relating to the stuff I didn't like, I appreciated that Abigail came off as a real person, and that she made her own decision to enjoy eight days of wonder and joy and adventure, rather than tell anyone that she was dying. She was awesome! And I loved that the last we see of her is her being happy, not a melodramatic death scene of woe.

  • SPACE SHARKS. THAT IS ALL.

  • So many lovely Doctory bits! Everyone's mentioned it already, but I loved the "nine hundred years and I've never met anyone who isn't important" bit SO MUCH. And all the bits with little Kazran were FAB. "What colour is it?"/"It's ...big. Sort of a ...big colour." ELEVENTY ILU.

  • The "ghost of Christmas future" reveal was brilliant.

  • Yes, it needed more Ponds, but I loved the little bits they did have. "The light's gone out, does that mean he's coming or that I have to change the bulb?" Also SPACESHIP.

  • I JUST LOVED IT LOTS AND LOTS. ♥

And it wasn't on Earth which is another huge plus. Otherwise, yes, I agree in all ways with you.

Oooh, I'm so jealous of everyone who's going to VidUKcon. I was briefly tempted to sign up, too, but I'm planning that UK holiday in May anyway, and April 10th is my dad's birthday, so I shall live it vicariously through all the entries on my f-list.
