Not a terribly interesting explanation, I'm afraid: I fail at thinking up screennames, basically. I just took "shiny" from Firefly (which I was very obsessed with two years ago when I got this journal) and stuck it in front of my Actual Name of which I am very fond. I might change it if a) I could think of anything I liked and b) I wasn't so lazy.
