Two posts in quick succession, oops. I didn't think I had anything to say about this week's Spooks, but it turns out I do.

  • Am impressed by how thoroughly they've trashed Lucas's character this season. Richard Armitage is a great actor and rather nice to look at, but when he is on screen my emotions run the gamut from "[expletive deleted]" to "I don't CARE. Is this storyline OVER yet?" He is a terrible person.

  • Ruth. RUUUTTTHHH. Oh, she is wonderful. So clear eyed about what being in MI5's doing to her. Also she hit a villain with an iron.

  • HI MALCOLM HI HI. He knew something was wrong with Lucas's story! And I loved his line about finally getting to see the highlands. ♥

  • Even though the rest of the team didn't have so much to do, what they had was great: Beth's confrontation with Lucas, Tariq spotting that the note wasn't on paper (NERD. I mean that as a compliment, of course), Dimitri all excited about his first mafia boss (like a wee puppy!) and telling Ruth to trust her instincts... that's the way to do it, Spooks! They don't all have to have equal focus every week as long as they have something decent and non-generic to do.

  • I never say anything about Harry, I have realised. I liked it when he shouted at Lucas. YES.

Also I have started to watch Bones, despite a slight hitch whereby lovefilm sent me Shutter Island instead. I'm not that interested in the actual plots, as a general rule, but I do like... well, everything you would expect me to like about it, really. The team dynamics! The Angela/Brennan friendship! Booth and Brennan snarking at each other! Brennan's unapologetic weirdness! The sappy bits! (I actually said "aw!" out loud at the Christmas episode. And then I cried a bit at the end.) Dr Goodman! He is really great, I like how he is actually just as weird and dorky as the rest of them, just better at hiding it for people who aren't.

I read on the internets that it all goes a bit wrong after season three, is that right? Even if it does, three seasons of goodness is a fair amount.

Harry scared me when he blew his top at Lucas - I actually thought he might hit Lucas! And Beth's "What are you going to do?" when Harry asked for Lucas' sidearm - I got the impression *she* thought he might shoot Lucas! (Not that he doesn't deserve it, nasty bastard that he is!)

Ruth! I wanted to cuddle her - but I somehow think she wouldn't have appreciated it.

And Malcolm made me flail with glee.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking it!

Re: Bones, I thought season 3 was good, personally, and season 4 is hit-and-miss (the first and last episodes are particularly dreadful) but some of the hits are good ones and I'd recommend watching at least parts of it. After that, take it or leave it. Nothing about season 5 really left an impression on me as bad or good.

Aw, I don't think that's true about Bones! I'm still enjoying it, anyway.
