Almost failed to get out of bed this morning, but then George Osborne popped up on the radio and it was either get up or lie there getting angrier and angrier, muttering things like "your assertion is DEMONSTRABLY INCORRECT" under my breath, so. Anyway. Also from the department of things I have opinions on: this week's SJA. My main opinion being: OH FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, STOP MINDWIPING PEOPLE. It's creepy, and there's a nasty sense of elitism to it: some people don't deserve to have that knowledge, because they won't handle it properly. Yuck. I also HATED that Sarah didn't tell Ocean the truth at the end - what, she doesn't get to know that she's right because, I don't know, she's got a silly name? I really thought they were going somewhere else with that after Sarah's look of guilt at the end of part one. Actually, that whole plotline seemed to fizzle out somewhat: we found out that the Men in Black stopped operating in 1972, and that Ocean was abducted in 1972... but they never went any further with that connection, did they? Oh, and I was also a little unsure about the bit where Sarah was basically encouraging Mr Dread to kill himself to save the world - ok, he was a villain, and you could argue that she didn't know what would happen, but still, I didn't altogether like it.

OK, things I did like: Clyde! He remains awesome. Ditto the Chandras, I love all of them tremendously. The attic scene at the beginning, with Luke there, just hanging out with them via webcam. ♥ Trailer for next week! YAY.

In less ranty news: [livejournal.com profile] trek_news is looking for new editors! I had to stop doing my weekly edition due to new busy-ness, but it's not really that time-consuming, and we are always looking for backup editors if you don't think you can commit to a weekly edition. It's a really fun newsletter to be involved with, I recommend it! And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or email trek.news@gmail.com.

THIS. YES.

Overall, I liked the episode. (I can't help but love SJA to bits!) But yeah, for once I'd like the writers to let some of the other adults in on the secret. That was one of my favorite parts from S1, when Alan became involved with the team. I had hoped they'd go for it here and actually work with the repercussions of Rani's parents learning about aliens, but, alas...

Oh, well. Clyde is still made of 100% awesome and I was so pleased to see the Luke cameo at the beginning. I hope they'll keep doing that. (I'd be so sad if he just disappears from the show!)

I am VERY excited for next week's episode!

Yes, it was bad enough when Chrissie was treated that way - and yes, she's a good deal more vacuous than Gita, but even so...

Clyde just pwns!

Exactly! I know it's meant to amuse the kids - but if the writers thought about it properly for a few minutes, they'd realise how wrong it is.

Yes. Despite my love for part 2, the mindwipe did bother me. Though they saved it some by implying that it was for Gita's own safety. I also wondered about Rani's guilt when she has to have breakfast with her mom every day know they've wiped her. Would have been stronger if the kids convinced her to handle the knowledge wisely.

Yeah, seriously... why should they get to decide who gets to keep their memories and who doesn't? That really didn't sit well with me.

I was just gettin' online to say exactly what you said about the mind-wiping and the elitism, yes. And also that so far this season of SJA is a bit shit. I am sad.

Last week's ep didn't especially bother me, just didn't grab me. Have you already seen next week's?

What you said. Also, hasn't the public at large known about aliens since the Big Ben incident in "Aliens of London"? I mean, I know this specific disjunct between DW and SJA has come up before, but it seems particularly egregious this time since so much of the plot hinged on keeping (or trying to keep) people in the dark.

I agree with what you said about Ocean Waters, it was very cruel of Sarah Jane to deny everything to her, it didnt feel right to me at all.
