Went pumpkin carving at [livejournal.com profile] amicu's with Rhiannon and [livejournal.com profile] tigerpixie last night! I had never carved a pumpkin before and was a little worried that I might end the evening with fewer fingers than I began it with, but all was well. There are many photos on facebook here; I shall post my effort under a cut:

(Also pictured: one of [livejournal.com profile] amicu's fab teacher mugs.)

[livejournal.com profile] amicu and Rhiannon made the innards into lovely pumpkin soup (slightly too spicy, but that was the recipe's fault, not theirs), and later we made pumpkin cupcakes decorated with chocolate spiderwebs (turning into a pumpkin, brb). We ate them watching an appropriate Buffy episode, "Fear Itself", which contains one of my many favourite Buffy moments: Xander asks Buffy, who is dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, "What have you got in the basket, little girl?" Calmly Buffy replies: "Weapons." &BUFFY;! I do love a good fairytale subversion.

THAT is one of my favouritest ever Buffy pwns moments!

Never been pumpkin carving myself either but I KNOW I would come back either minus some fingers OR with bandaging to repair the damage I'd done.

YOURS, however, looks spectacular.

(And I seem to be suffering from an attack of emphatic caps, for which I apologise!)

It's brilliant. I laughed so hard the first time I watched it. (At that, and the reveal of the Fear Demon!)

Thank you! It wasn't as complicated as some of the other ones but I was quite pleased with it.

Well you have to start somewhere, don't you!

Emphatic caps are ALWAYS welcome here! ;)

*grins* Thanks!

Yes! And Giles' oh-so-laconic, 'Xander, don't taunt the Fear demon' :D

Speaking of fairy tale subversions, and since I was too made of fail to blog Frightfest, there's a film coming out on DVD about now (and really is the sort of thing that would do well in a cinema, but film company were Warners and made of fail, too) called Trick'r'Treat, which is basically a Hallowe'en story anthology written by the same guy as the first 2 X-Men films. I rather enjoyed it; so might you.

Looks up DVD
Huh, it's an 18. Odd, I didn't find it particularly scary or gory. Oh, and there's this little girl I pretty much wanted to adopt.

Your pumpkin looks great! I crocheted one (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vilakins/4033354835/) because I found a pattern online and Greg's nickname is Pumpkin. He's getting it on our anniversary next month. :-) It's meant to be lumpy because of the runs pumpkins have.
