What I could be doing this evening: going to a spa with some friends from school. What I am actually doing: working the late shift at the library. Boo! On the other hand, I'm only here til 7.30, I do like my job, and I also like earning more money, so there's that.

Things I want to do at the weekend, which I am writing down here in public in the hope that that'll make me actually get on and do them:

- More tidying! I want to clear out my storeroom (yes, I have a storeroom, it is to make up for the lack of central heating. At the moment this is an acceptable trade-off, but ask me again in a month or two...), I feel like if it was all organised properly I would be able to fit more in there and it would be easier to get at the things I actually need.

- KNITTING! Best way to reduce ridiculously large wool collection = knit it into things, y/y? Especially things for other people. Also I have about four projects that I want to cast on, but feel I shouldn't until I've done a fair bit of my current project. Current project is shaping up to be v. fun; I promised The Sister that I'd try to recreate this top for her. I'm vaguely basing it on this pattern, which I've made before, but there will be lots of modifying and trial and error and stuff. I also have a backlog of Big Finish audios which I must listen to before I am allowed to buy any more, so that should be a good combination.

:) I'm thinking in terms of rent - no central heating takes the amount I'm paying down, all that storage space puts it up again!

Well, I'm just assuming, based on what other flats are going for! But no central heating and high rent is rubbish, poor you! :/

I'm cheesed off that they keep putting up my rent, yet I get nothing more for it. And my rent is ridiculously high, given the size of my room! (A tiny attic!)

Knit some scrappy scarves (http://zona.livejournal.com/2008/09/11/)! I'm on my second one. Are you on Ravelry? If so, my first one is here (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Vilakins/scrappy-lengthwise-scarf). It's a great way to use of leftover yarn, the effect is lovely and looks woven, and they'd make great gifts. I did mine on a long circular and changed yarn each row to make a fringe. :-)

Ooo, that is a gorgeous pattern! I love your idea of using the ends to make a fringe. Thanks for the link - I will definitely be making one of them!

I just finished my second one today! It's even brighter! It looks great with my brown jackets. I'm going to make a third one using a darker selection, and that should use up a lot of my leftovers. It's a great pattern because it knits up very soft and flat. Use needles two or three sizes bigger though as you only knit every second row. I used 6mms circs on double knitting / 8 ply.

Ooh, that top looks good and very wearable too. The small (rather than chunky) cable look really pretty!

The tiny cables are great fun - they don't need a cable needle, so they're not nearly as fiddly as they look. It took me ages to get the gauge right but I really like the way it worked out.
