1) There was going to be a reaction post for "Amy's Choice" here, but I wanted to watch it again and make notes and things, and so far neither the iPlayer nor my digibox are co-operating. Maybe later. Anyway, the short version is: I LOVED IT. I laughed, I cried, I flailed my arms with glee a few times. I love Amy, I love Rory and I love Eleven. I had forgotten what this was like!

2) I also watched the first episode of Legend of the Seeker, which was pretty fun, though I really hope they lay off the slo-mo in later episodes.

3) And I also saw Iron Man 2 at the weekend! I was a little worried about it, because I really loved the first one and I'd read some bad reviews, but after a slow start I thoroughly enjoyed it. The bit with Captain America's shield was fab, as was Scarlett Johansson beating up everyone (where is HER origin story, eh, Marvel?). And PEPPER! ♥ I spent most of the film drawing hearts round her: she was so wonderfully capable, but not unrealisiticly so - when she realises that the drone's about to explode, she freezes, like I think a lot of people would. (Also, the drones were SO CREEPY, with the slot of light instead of a face, and the way they were brought out, with all the rah rah patriotic music and stuff, brrrr.) I do wish we'd seen her and Natalie/Natasha becoming friends on-screen, though, rather than just being told about it. I found Tony a little annoying at the beginning, but in retrospect I actually liked that, because I think the film did a great job at not presenting him as an uncomplicated hero - yes, he's a genius (but Whiplash was too) and yes, he does save people and try to do the right thing, but he's also arrogant, self-centred and egotistical, and he rides roughshod over his friends' feelings. It was also nice to see Christine again - I really liked her in the first film - and though I could have done without Pepper sniping at her, I sort of interpret that as Pepper getting frustrated with all these women falling for Tony's act (she can see through him, she thinks, so why can't they? Not to mention the "if you lot keep indulging him he will NEVER LEARN" aspect). And the finale was brill, especially the bit where Iron Man and War Machine almost get killed because they're too busy bickering to carry out their plan.

(Skipping Iron Man 2 spoilers as it hasn't come to Japan yet!)

Legend of the Seeker, omg! It picks up and gets waaaaaaaay better after the first seven or so episodes, and then gets unbelievably awesome in S2 - really, I hope you keep watching :DDD

(Apologies if I spoiled you for Iron Man 2! Should've put that bit in a separate post...)

Oh, not at all! The spoilers were clearly marked; it's just that I wasn't responding to your reaction, which was the main part of the post X)

Anyway, yes, I do hope you enjoye LotS - S2 introduces Cara, who is also kickass and is awesome with Kahlan <333

1. Yes, it was fabulous! I didn't think the writer of bloody Men Behaving Badly of all things had it in him, but apparently I was wrong. More Simon Nye in series six, please!

2. Hooray, someone else on my FL watching Legend of the Seeker! Almost no one does, which is a shame because it's quite fantastic. The first couple of episodes are fun if a bit standard, but with episode eight it gets properly wonderful and ridiculously addictive.

They do indeed use the slow-mo less as the series go on, although it never goes away entirely, they just make much better use of it and you end up barely noticing. Plus, it does mean that you get lots of Kahlan's swooshy hair/dress, which isn't a bad thing!

Episode eight made me fall head over heels in love with the show. I was only "in like" with it uptil then, too.

Gosh, I don't think I made it through a single episode of Andromeda - I have a bit of a Kevin Sorbo allergy.

I've never been able to get Garth Marenghi's Darkplace out of my head where the characters freely admit they used slow-mo wherever possible because the actual episode plot was only enough to sustain about 15 minutes, so it's sort of amazing that Andromeda became an actual, real-life Darkplace.

I've heard that Andromeda was decent until they got rid of the main developer (one of the DS9 creators I think - Michael Piller?) and Sorbo became a producer, with the result being his character becoming a bit of a Gary Stu as you've described. It saddens me that the show was allowed to go on in that state (five seasons, it lasted!) while so many other considerably better ones get cut down in their prime (I'm still sore about The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
