Have just watched Prince Caspian (finally). Here are some thoughts:

- Was DISTINCTLY unimpressed by the fact that the two good Telmarines were the whitest ones. LET'S NOT DO THAT, PLEASE.

- OH MY GOODNESS, SUSAN, WARRIOR QUEEN, THERE ARE NO WORDS. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

- Was not that keen on the romance angle though. I didn't dislike it (oh, ok, I did a bit. Especially the end. My inner eight year old says: "ew, kissing D:" and since she is the Narnia expert I will defer to her), but I thought that Susan's scene in the forest, where she tells Lucy that she can't just enjoy being back in Narnia because she's wondering how long it'll last, was excellent, and a much subtler way of playing the "Susan's growing up" theme.

- Edmund was pretty great, too. Well done, kid.

- The Reepicheep stuff didn't quite work for me, but it is possible I am not judging him for having the voice of Sylvester McCoy in this version.

- Oh, I loved the pullback on the beach, when they see the ruins, and then when they're up there and they realise where they are.

- Gratuitous effects alert! What happened to the simple door frame that everyone left through in the book? I'm not a book purist, but that was a pointless thing to change.

- Hmmm. It was a v. pretty film, but overall I did not love it like I loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It felt quite jarringly modern in places: some of the dialogue, and the song at the end - I love Regina Spektor, but... no.

Changing the subject somewhat, anyone fancy going to the Reclaim the Night March next Friday? I would like to go (to the march bit, anyway, would probably skip the evening stuff as am going to London the next day) but would rather not go on my own!

Not terribly well; I've only been two or three times. I can find my way from Bristol Temple Meads train station to Cabot Circus and the High Street, not much more. But my friends and I are actually going to Bristol tomorrow, so I could try and find it!

Shiny! You should be able to find College Green from the High Street - there's a map on the website - and once you're there you'll see the cathedral, and the library's just beyond it. But if you can't find it, I could meet you somewhere else and we could walk up to join the march from wherever we are.

I found it just fine! Assuming the library you mean is the impressive building competing vainly with the cathedral, with the statue of an Indian man close by and 'Central Library' above the door.

What time would you like to meet? I'm in uni till four, but I can catch an X39 and it should, according to their website timetables, take about forty minutes from there to reach Bristol.

Yep, that's it! Poor library, it's such a nice building but it doesn't stand a chance with the cathedral right next door...

I finish work at 4.45 and was planning to walk straight down there - I should be able to get there for about 4.55, so we could meet then-ish?

I'll try to get up there for five, otherwise (because buses are late/held-up/missed, connections are missed and I have to wait for the next one) I should be no later than quarter past. In which case, I apologise.

Why couldn't this be a finish-at-three week?

It is indeed. I am short and skinny with brownish shoulder length hair, I'll probably be wearing a short black coat and jeans. You? I'll go and hang out in the lobby until you get there, and I'll PM you my mobile number in case the buses go really wrong!
