I am turning into a grumpy old lady, somewhat prematurely. I have been typing up comments from PGCE students about the library and whenever someone complains that the printers are really busy on essay days, I find myself thinking along these lines... "Students today, don't know they're born! When I was a student [this time last year] I had to walk for half an hour in the freezing cold to queue for a printer! And when you got there you had to crank it by hand to make it go! And it was uphill both ways! And we liked it!"

Also, I had my hair cut yesterday and though I am very happy with it, I am less happy that they charged me £35. For that price it should have been cut by wood nymphs with scissors made of gold, and bathed in warm champagne.*

And another thing! Why doesn't my local WHSmiths (or WHSmug as my dad insists on calling it) sell blanks tapes any more? They had plenty of blank CDs. I had to record the radio program I was interested in onto a video tape.

Harumph harumph harumph.

(Do not be misled by the tone of this entry, I am actually fairly cheerful, despite being 21 going on 98.)

On a more serious note, go here and click to donate.

*admittedly, this would probably not have made it particularly clean.

Heehee... ahh you do make me laugh! It is true that printers are the world's biggest pain in the butt, especially my one which likes to put random blobs/lines/whatever it feels like on the page. And when I try to print more than one page per sheet (if that makes sense) it does this crazy thing with the letters where they all run into each other and the gaps between them are too big!

Ah, woe is me. ;) Sadly my friend the days of cassette tapes are over! Though if you did find any they'd prob be unbelievably cheap! (Try ebay!)

Photos of not-quite-wood-nymph-cut hair please! :D

You can get them from Woolies, or Virgin or HMV... I still use tapes!

Use minidiscs - plug it into the headphone or line out socket - cd quality sound with cassette versatility, re-recordable over 1 million times with no loss of quality, and get the equipment for next to nothing nowadays.

a late-comer to your updated blog (linked off the message board..).. Have you got internet in the flat? cos if you did you could do 'listen again' for the Pratchett stories... Although that would not make them permanent... hmm, maybe not a sensible suggestion..
maybe should do some french oral preparation for my class in 30 mins... it's very wet in oxford. and i got official letter today about exams, with times and dates of orals and aurals... what fun...
i owe you a letter, i'm afraid.. and izzy an email.. sometime soon...
love Jess xx
