SJA: Day of the Clown, part 2
Tuesday, 14 October 2008 17:20(Earlier on I was listening to the BBC's adaptation of HMS Surprise; it is pretty good, and has Adjoa "Francine Jones" Andoh as Diana Villiers, but I could really have done without the brain surgery sound effects, thanks. Ick.)
What this post is really about: fairly disjointed thoughts on this week's Sarah Jane Adventures! I didn't think this was exactly the best episode ever - all the "ohnoes, clowns SO SCARY" got a bit tedious at times - but in some ways it doesn't matter since I love all the characters so much and would happily watch them having a nice cup of tea and maybe some cake for half an hour. They were all very touchy-feely this week, I noticed, lots of handholding and grabbing and hugging and loveliness. The scene between Luke and Sarah when she's talking about her clown-phobia was really really great, I could really feel the affection between them. I continue to be very fond of Rani and her team up with Clyde towards the end worked very well. Also I adore bad jokes so Clyde defeating the clown with them had me in stitches. I'm not sure why, but I liked that the picture of Sarah, Luke, Maria and Clyde was a bit pixellated and not the best shots of them ever, it made it more realistic. So much joy for Professor whatsername (ETA: Professor Rivers! Thanks,
persiflage_1!) at the Pharos Institute - the idea of Sarah having this whole network of contacts, some of whom we've seem before, some of whom we've never met, is just the sort of thing I like. And she was a good character too. Er, what else? I did feel sorry for Mr Chandra: losing all the children on his second day in the job, not a very auspicious start. :)
(Now I am listening to a podcast about Benny; Paul Cornell just described her as "me in a frock", heh)
