"Like pen-friends, but without the pen."
Wednesday, 13 August 2008 19:41I know I have done this meme fairly recently but it was fun so I am doing it again.

Adam Adamant Lives!
Or, What Verity Lambert Did Next.
The BBC's answer to The Avengers (except without the budget. This is the BBC, after all). I was going to explain what it's about, but the BBC's site have done it for me in brilliant style, complete with clips. (Sadly the clips are bit wobbly and the one of the theme tune misses out the first line: "bold as a knight in bright armour", which I rather love.) It is a fabulous programme and I love it very much (though the reviews on the BBC site suggest that this may be a rather eccentric opinion, oh well). All the episodes have titles like "A Vintage Year For Scoundrels" or "The Terribly Happy Embalmers" and the villains say things like "my only regret [in killing Adamant] is that I never got the name of his tailor." (The quote in my subject line, btw, is the end of Adam's butler's explanation of what an escort service is.) OK, it is a little bit formulaic - almost every episode seems to involve Adam turning up to investigate something only to discover that Georgina (see icon) has accidentally or deliberately got herself employed by the bad guys in some capacity - but I don't mind when the formula is so much fun. Although the clash between Adam's Edwardian values and Georgina's sixties sensibilities is a huge part of the show, neither could ever be conclusively declared the winner, which I love. Also there are swordfights from time to time.
Not Stalking Paul McGann
Um. Well, he lives in Bristol, so it wouldn't actually be that hard, but it would be insane and also Wrong, so I am not, and I put it in my interests to prove it.
ISIHAC
Short for I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, which is too long to be an LJ interest. ISIHAC is a radio 4 comedy ("the antidote to panel games") which was hosted by Humphrey Lyttelton, who sadly died earlier this year. It's a parody panel show, rounds include the self explanatory One Song to the Tune of Another, Sound Charades, Uxbridge English Dictionary and of course Mornington Crescent.
Martha/Romana
I talked about this one in my last go at this meme - this pairing just works for me, I think it would be fantastic, though chances of it ever actually happening in canon are slim to none, sadly.
Space Archeology
What is the one thing cooler than archeology*? ARCHEOLOGY IN SPACE, that's what. This is what I have learned from Bernice Summerfield, anyway.
*disclaimer: I understand that archeology in real life is probably not as exciting as it looks on the films. But still I think it is pretty cool.
Whizz for Atomms
This is the third book in the Molesworth series (as any fule kno) by Geoffrey Willans, with pictures by Ronald Searle, being the fictional rantings and wisdom of Nigel Molesworth, pupil at St Custard's prep school. I heart these books, they make me laugh, and they also make me say things like "chiz chiz chiz", "hello birds hello sky" and so on.
(I googled Whizz for Atomms in order to provide int'restin links and the first result was a link to Blake's 7 characters in the style of Molesworth. PROOF THAT THE INTERNET LOVES ME.)

Date: 14 Aug 2008 05:07 (UTC)You know, I am a terrible and shallow person. It's gotten to the point where my reasoning for shipping people in DW is no longer 'oh, these characters would have great/interesting chemistry!' but instead 'OMG they are both hot, so putting them together would be EVEN HOTTER ♥'
XDDD
Anyway, me? :D
