I'm having a slight problem with the worldbuilding in these books whereby I feel like either I'm missing something key or the way the Laneeri are treated by both the characters and the narrative is a bit off - I feel like they get treated like out and out villains when Aeland isn't exactly blameless either? Which is a shame because other than that I really liked it, I thought the atmosphere was particularly good in this one.
