Torchwood things
Sunday, 23 March 2008 14:28(OK it's not morning any more. But otherwise it is a v. appropriate icon, yes.)
Here are two things about Torchwood. The first is a happy thing and it is this video (linked by
millylicious on
house_of_cooper) which has Gwen and Ianto saving the day and being adorkable together - Ianto's wee face when he is saying hello to Rhys on the tellingbone is a highlight. It's like the BBC made it just for me!
The other thing is not so happy and also has spoiler type things for the most recent episode, "Fragments", and also in passing for SJA: The Lost Boy.
Yes it is the UNIT thing and I know lots of people have already said more articulate things about it, but I wanted to throw my hat into the ring as also being angry about it. (Actually I missed it when I originally saw the episode as I was playing on the internets at the same time - I looked up and went "hey, Tosh is in Guantanamo! This isn't good. Why is she there? Hmm, live tv, no rewind. Oh well. I expect it's not that important." Oh blissful ignorance.) Thing is, it's not like UNIT has never made a questionable decision, but there's questionable and then there's downright wrong, like this was. UNIT would not do this. And it would have been so easy to have it be not UNIT, it could have been Torchwood 1, they've got form in the bad decisions department. It could have been some generic shady organisation. It could have been ISIS, and there would have been much continuity related rejoicing amongst fans of the (fab) UNIT audios. And besides, wasn't Tosh working for UNIT back in the day? Sigh. I will probably watch the next episode, as it's the last and Gwen will be in it, but after that, I don't know. *clings to the Sarah Jane Adventures where UNIT are lovely and bail Sarah out, presumably on the grounds of someone there going "abducitng a child? Sarah Jane Smith? Pull the other one, it have got bells on it."*

Hooray for SJA!UNIT (it's clearly THEM that Martha's working for, not the dodgy lot who locked up Tosh...)

Why waste such a brilliant mind by leaving her to rot in jail? I can't believe they've got THAT many brilliant minds around the place !

Date: 24 Mar 2008 00:35 (UTC)I'm afraid my geographical position rather determines some my ability to get to watch Torchwood and therefor I'm always a little behind.. Also because of this, I'm actually often trying not to go read too many spoilers, but yeah, I am sorry to see UNIT got bad treatment there.. :/ Do your homework, writers!
