Wednesday, 1 March 2006 17:39I am turning into a grumpy old lady, somewhat prematurely. I have been typing up comments from PGCE students about the library and whenever someone complains that the printers are really busy on essay days, I find myself thinking along these lines... "Students today, don't know they're born! When I was a student [this time last year] I had to walk for half an hour in the freezing cold to queue for a printer! And when you got there you had to crank it by hand to make it go! And it was uphill both ways! And we liked it!"
Also, I had my hair cut yesterday and though I am very happy with it, I am less happy that they charged me £35. For that price it should have been cut by wood nymphs with scissors made of gold, and bathed in warm champagne.*
And another thing! Why doesn't my local WHSmiths (or WHSmug as my dad insists on calling it) sell blanks tapes any more? They had plenty of blank CDs. I had to record the radio program I was interested in onto a video tape.
Harumph harumph harumph.
(Do not be misled by the tone of this entry, I am actually fairly cheerful, despite being 21 going on 98.)
On a more serious note, go here and click to donate.
*admittedly, this would probably not have made it particularly clean.
