I read 194 books this year (of which 82 were graphic novels), and if you add in the twelve volumes worth of single issues I read, that takes me over 200, hurrah! (The volumes in question: Saga Vol 2, Captain Marvel: Down, Avengers Assemble: The Enemy Within, Hawkeye: Little Hits, Young Avengers: Style > Substance, Young Avengers: Alternative Cultures, Fearless Defenders: Doom Maidens, Fearless Defenders: The Most Fabulous Fighting Team Of All, Journey Into Mystery: Seeds of Destruction, X-Men: Primer, Li'l Gotham Vols 1
and 2.)

Here is a roundup post, which like last year's has GRAPHS.

How my reading was distributed across the year (I added the extra comics in at a rate of one volume a month, because it fitted so neatly):

...not sure what happened to my comics reading in June and November. As always, lots of reading in December, due to being off work and at my parents' house over Christmas.

alt

About what I expected: I think I am more likely to read a book if it's by a female author, and I tend to get my recs from places/people who do likewise, but the general pull towards male authors means female authors aren't THAT much more than half of my reading. Breaking it down a little more:

alt

Compared to last year, I read... more non fiction and less crime, basically. I drew this chart up as I was going along, so I was able to notice and correct for the fact that my SFF reading was a bit male-author-heavy in the earlier months. The major male-skewing category is the TV tie in one, and... I'm not sure there's THAT much I can do about that. Most of my tie-in reading is Classic Who stuff, and since I'm planning to read all of that, cherrypicking the female-authored stuff first would only help in the short term. :/

I would also like to try and read some more books by non-white authors next year, as I only managed about half a dozen this year. :/ (Does anyone have any recs?)

And finally, where did I get my books from?

alt

Answer: THE LIBRARY.

A couple of comics graphs:

alt

Major swing to Marvel this year, because DC's current stuff isn't doing it for me, and I'm running out of older things.

alt

A swing towards male led and mixed gender team comics (the latter probably because I'm reading more Marvel; they are teamier) - I listed the female only teams under female lead. A slight swing away from female led titles as I am running out. D:

IN CONCLUSION: BOOKS. COMICS. GRAPHS. :D
