Am back from possibly the most isolated Group Holiday yet: we were staying on Holy Island, just off Anglesey, with absolutely nothing for miles around except beautiful scenery. I took many photos and was hoping to be able to post some today, but there was no-one in Jessops this afternoon capable of developing APS films so I had to go for next day processing instead. We had some good luck with the weather and on Monday we went to the South Stack lighthouse, then walked up Holyhead Mountain and scrambled down the other side. Tuesday was a bit rubbish but as we'd already booked tickets to see the new Harry Potter film it didn't really matter. On Wednesday we went to visit a nuclear power station. They don't let you go and have a look round any more but the visitor centre was full of exciting propaganda int'resting facts about nuclear power, some of it in the form of a fifteen minute video presented by Peter Davison in a variety of hats. Excellent. Jess and Vanky had to leave early to go to a wedding, which was a shame, but we coped better than the last time Jess had to leave a holiday early, i.e. we did not spend the whole day eating toast and watching daytime TV. Instead we went to a windmill and Diege asked many pertinent questions, such as "Do you ever just grab the chain that hauls the wheat up instead of taking the stairs?" (answer: frequently) and "Have you ever caught hold of one of the sails as they went past?" (answer: no, but apparently a stoned guy in the 80s tried it. History does not relate what happened to him). Afterwards Drinky, Phil, Izzy and I went to see a very pretty beach. As we were wandering along, we spotted a van with a hatch in it in the distance and headed for it in the hope that it would be selling ice cream. It wasn't, but it was the craft services van for the remake of Clash of the Titans, which was filming further down the beach. We considered going to have a nose around, but it was a long way and there were lots of signs around saying, essentially, "NONE OF THAT", so we didn't bother, and therefore this story is not quite as exciting as it could have been. Also we played lots and lots of games, including Singstar, which is ridiculous amounts of fun and this year was full of ABBA. And then I came back to Bristol, where it was raining. Good for the tomatoes, I suppose.
