Doctor Who: Hide

Kind of a liveblog, except I didn't make any notes for the first fifteen minutes because I was eating my tea.

- The Doctor being all fanboy is the best.

- "What's the opposite of bliss?"/"...Carlisle?" HARSH BUT FAIR.

- I love that Eleventy is screaming as well.

- "Because I killed-" *buffering...buffering...buffering* THANKS IPLAYER.

- "It sticks out like a... big chin." CLARA.

- Not sure how I feel about this Clara/Emma conversation.

- Aw, Eleven looked so DEJECTED when Clara insulted his spacesuit. And now he is so desparate to understand what she's upset about. ♥

- Look, I just love everything about Eleven and his dialogue and Matt Smith's acting. *time passes* OK, I do not love his pronounciation of Metebelis 3, but one cannot have everything.

- Usually I would be a bit eyerolly at the Obligatory Guest Cast Het Romance, but the actors are making it quite delicate and intense and rather lovely. Either that, or I'm going soft in my old age. Wish he'd been the psychic and she the scientist, though.

- "collapsing universe going to be dead two minutes no time complete sentences abandon planet" :DDD

- Hila's outfit looks like something out of Blake's 7. APPROVE.

- Cloister bell action!

- Clara vs the TARDIS is a plot thread that I am somewhat unsure about. Depends where it goes, I suppose.

- TARDIS TO THE RESCUE. THAT WAS AWESOME. Seriously, it looked so good, and is something we hardly ever see.

- Group hug, yes good.

- "But you guessed that already, didn't you? ...Apparently not." Heh.

- ...wait, what did the Doctor do with Hila in the end? I missed something there, right? For one glorious moment I thought it was going to be Second Companion o'clock, but no. :(

I have been putting the finishing touches on my dissertation all day, and my brain is completely fried from checking and rechecking the table of contents, so now I am going to eat crisps and watch Warehouse 13, and then read some comics in the bath. GOOD.

It was a pretty good episode, but had a seriously rushed ending. I like the concept that the scary beastie that frightened even the Doctor was actually just lonely and longing for love, but hello, could we please handle that over more than maybe two minutes?! *whimper*

Yeah, it was a cool idea, but just sort of thrown in there at the last minute. I wasn't entirely clear on what actually happened, either. But other than that, great episode!

Yay for dissertation-finishing!

The TARDIS and Clara saving the Doctor was indeed very neat.

I think with Hila at the end, he left her there, because they were her family, albeit from many generations back? And she sort of already had a connection with the lady, because of the psychic link?

*nods* yeah, I think that must have been it. I think it could've done with an extra line or two of dialogue to clarify it - the Doctor telling her she'd soon settle in, or offering to take her somewhere else, or something - but possibly I'm just sad that we're not getting a surprise second companion! ;)
