- I really need to stop reading about Batman Inc #8, it's only making me unhappy. And I'm finding the way DC's been hyping it pretty distasteful - basically, they're going "guys guys you're going to want to read this! There's a ten-year-old being graphically killed in it! Quick quick buy it buy it!". Ugh. Also, I've seen a few pages, and Damian doesn't even get a well-executed death. It's undignified, unpleasant and the art is SO UGLY. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. The other frustrating thing is it's putting me off other comics - I was going to read the last volume of Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman run, which I KNOW is going to be both awesome and right up my alley, last night, but I just couldn't work up the enthusiasm. (Since DC has been having trouble with the word, I feel I should point out that this is what "toxic" really is: liable to put me off even largely unrelated comics, not "character with a fanbase that won't shut up about how poorly the said character has been treated".)

- Lack of posting recently is due to the fact that I have to do All The Things in the next few weeks, but am going to be away for a couple of weekends, oh dear. It's all doable, I've just got to get on with it and stop flapping around. (Oh, and I have a somewhat epic "things read in February" post on its way tomorrow...)

- One of the things is my Vidukon vidshow! It's getting there, though I'm having a surprising amount of trouble picking a Star Trek vid. Does anyone know any that are particularly spacetastic? (Or alternatively, does anyone fancy looking at my shortlist and giving me a second opinion? :D?)

If it helps, the last volume of Rucka's Wonder Woman really is one of the most moving Wonder Woman stories I've ever read. It's just gorgeous. At least, I thought so. It does feature That Controversial Thing that tied into Infinite Crisis, but I thought it was perfectly written and made total sense. It remains one of my favourite graphic novels to this day. The way it ties up the entire run in one thematically awesome loop is amazing.

(Also YAY VIDUKON! Except I suck and have no ideas for a Star Trek space vid!)

I am so disgusted by DC's hype. And I realized today that it has pretty much killed my interest in their reboot Batfamily books. I will admit that I have been enjoying Red Hood and the Outlaws despite its flaws, but. I don't want to see Jason's reaction to another dead Robin. I don't want to see anyone's reaction, or lack of reaction, and I just don't want to read any more.

That does help, thank you! I can feel my enthusiasm levels rising again. :) I know about the Controversial Thing (unless I am getting my crises crossed), though I didn't know it was in this volume, and I'm pretty sure it's a thing I'll be ok with...

Me neither. :( My interest in the New 52 Batbooks was never that high, between the missing characters and the rewritten backstories, but I was willing to be persuaded if one turned out to be really good or did something really relevant to my interests. Now... not so much.

THIS. There are a lot of older comics I still want to read, and I'm like, should I even give them money if they're going to pull stuff like this? I am seriously wondering if it is time to defect to Marvel or something.

Yeah... I work late on Wednesdays and usually buy an old issue of Birds of Prey and/or Gotham Knights to read at the issue desk, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that last night. :(
