Usually I vastly prefer gratuitous happy to gratuitous unhappy, but I LOVED that. It was so wonderfully bleak, from the autumnal location filming to the valedictory tone. I spent approximately the last five minutes sobbing, and also cried at Vila's "It's Blake, isn't it?" (that's definitely because I knew what was coming up), Blake telling Tarrant what had happened to Jenna (though I choose to believe he's lying) and Blake shooting at the bounty hunters from the wreck of the Scorpio (...I don't even know). Soolin was particularly amazing this episode. Dayna and Vila had some lovely affectionate bits, which really set up that great moment where Vila goes from clowning around as a distraction to taking Arlen's gun and knocking her out in seconds, after she shoots Dayna (noooooo). OK there were plot holes you could drive a starliner through, but somehow I don't care. IT WAS GREAT. MY HEART.

(I do wonder, though, how I'd've reacted to it if I'd gone in cold rather than having known what was going to happen for about eight years. It's hard to say: I think part of the reason I was so affected by bits of it was the fact that I've been watching Blake's 7 for a fair chunk of my life - see also, me sobbing in the cinema at Revenge of the Sith - so maybe that balanced out the "knew it was going to happen" factor.)

Completely OT but what happened to your Fourth Doctor DW icons post? I wrote a comment, hit Post, and got told it wasn't accessible!

Ahhhhh, Blake's 7. I do love the ending, as dark and horrible as it is. And it's funny because my personal canon is that they all died in this moment. But I have still written lots of post-Gauda Prime episodes where they live. There aren't too many canons where I do that sort of thing. (One of the only others being Jamie McCrimmon's ending.)
