things I have been doing recently:

- trying to decide what to get in the Big Finish sale! I think it may be IRIS TIME, but Dalek Empire II is also tempting, as I enjoyed the first series much more than I was expecting, and I have nearly bought the New Worlds book bundle so may times now...

- sorting out my tags. I have finished the Dreamwidth ones (see how beautifully they nest!) and am working on the LJ ones. When I have finished they will all be ORGANISED and LOVELY.

- growing food! Well, not successfully yet, but I do have lots of things in various stages of growingness, some actually in the garden (runner beans, possibly dead, oh dear; potatoes, which I actually planted last year and forgot about, but they have reseeded themselves so it's ALL FINE), some on the outside windowsill (french beans that I am planning to plant out this weekend, purple sprouting broccoli seedlings, lettuce seedlings - slightly squashed), some inside (courgette plants, chili seedlings). Also The Parents are bringing me some tomato plants on Thursday, I have grown tomatoes before so am on firmer ground with them. With everything else, I don't know what I am doing and spend a lot of time peering at the back of the seed packets.

- not sleeping properly, i.e. I can't get to sleep at night and then I can't wake up in the morning. FROWN.

- failing at knitting. I started making this cardigan from the latest Knitty pretty much as soon as I saw it. All the time I kept thinking "hmm, is this maybe a bit small?", but then I would think "well, I am a bit small, also, it's lace, it will stretch" and carry on. (*all the knitters reading this shake their heads sadly*) Well, inevitably, it was indeed too small and I had to unravel it and start again. It turns out the unravelling something you've knitted with two strands of yarn held together is rather problematical, as the two strands tend to become inextricably entangled. Grrr! Also I expect that this time it will be too big. *is pessimistic*

Eee, the tags ARE all pretty and nested!

Mostly I am here about the GROWING FOOD though because I have this sudden urge to garden. I have no garden so this may be an issue but I was thinking about window pots. ;D

And likewise the knitting! But I have faith, it will fit perfectly this time! (ETA: Wow, it's SO pretty! I hope it does work out right!)

Me neither. I keep having to remind myself that I have loads of stuff to listen to, in the hope that that will help, but... so many shiny things!

I have no garden so this may be an issue but I was thinking about window pots.
Tomatoes on windowsills work really well! I didn't even have a windowsill in my first flat so I grew them on a cardboard box next to the window and it worked out fine.

But I have faith, it will fit perfectly this time!
*crosses fingers* I keep sort of half trying it as I go along, and it's looking better than last time. Knitty has some lovely patterns! I recommend them - they're usually really clear and well written, too.

Awesome! I was actually thinking flowers but tomatoes maybe too! :D Is it expensive? Plants and seeds and soil and tools and etc?

Did you have the same sudden temperature jump as we did? I suspect that will have messed everything up a bit!

Expensiveness depends, really! Tools can be a bit pricey, but if you've only got a windowsill the maximum you'll need is a trowel and a watering can, if that. You can get plant pots quite cheaply if you don't mind boring plastic ones! Soil I think costs a bit, but you get loads in a bag. Plants and seeds always cost more than I'm expecting, but if you know other people with gardens you can probably get excess seedlings/seeds from them (if you do make it to Bristol, I might have some spare chili seedlings if you'd like), as well as cuttings - my rosemary was a cutting from my parents' plant, which I think was originally a cutting from my grandparents! School/church fetes and things like that might be worth a look for reasonably priced plants and secondhand equipment and things. Good luck! :D

Our temperatures have been all over the place. But it's mostly that the tomatoes have more growing to do than the lettuces, I think.
