1.) Happy birthday, nwhyte!
2.) Here are some Big Finish type things I have been listening to recently:
- The Suffering: I really enjoyed this, it was a nice, enjoyable pseudo-historical, and Steven's Adventures in Shopping made me laugh and laugh. I was also rather tickled by Peter Purves describing Sara Kingdom as a very important space lady in the extras!
- City of Spires: I loved about this audio VERY MUCH!
- The Genocide Machine: pretty solid Dalek story, I thought. It was nice to see Bev Tarrant's first appearance; I'd forgotten she was in this! I also liked the image of the Dalek being drowned in its casing (creepy!). Plus, set in a library, always good.
- Red Dawn: this would have been much better if it wasn't for the rather dodgy science. So Tanya was somehow created partly with Ice Warrior DNA (which in itself I can accept), and yet the only manifestation of this is... her knowing how to use their technology? Right. I am not entirely convinced that this is how DNA works. Other than that, it was fine if not particularly exciting; the Ice Warriors were great, the humans less interesting, and Georgia Moffett (again!) was likeable (again!) as Tanya.

- Most of all I loved SIX AND JAMIE. Six was so pleased to see Jamie! And the way Jamie trusted him without really knowing why was lovely. THE HUG. Just... their whole dynamic was very nice; like Frazer Hines said in the extras, Jamie has this innocence and straightforwardness to him, which both contrasts with and complements Six's character. DID I MENTION THE HUG?
- Georgia Moffett did a brilliant job as Alice! (She is such a likeable actress.) Alice was a great character and I was a little sad that she didn't go with the Doctor and Jamie at the end.
- I am v. intrigued by all the messing-with-time stuff that's going on! (But I worry that this will all end with Jamie losing his memories again. Please don't do that, Big Finish!) And I like that we ended the story knowing almost as little as when we went in. Also, there were lots of great ideas, like the Redcaps and the city itself, and the nature of the villain.
