overslept this morning, am still a little muddled

1.) I am thisclose to renouncing Being Human, since this season in general and the last episode in particular have been doing a great job at destroying everything I liked about it in the first place. All the warmth and humour seems to have evaporated somewhere along the line. Also although I don't have an official list of thing that will make me dislike a character I had previously been fond of, if I did, I am pretty sure that slaughtering a trainful of innocent people and then popping home for a spot of sexual harrassment would be on it.

2.) I watched the new Doctor Who trailer, was v. exciting and Amy has a pretty voice, but I judge it a bit for not having actual scenes, which is what I want in a trailer. Also am not entirely sold yet on Matt Smith, I am sure he will be fine but I am still stuck on what a boring casting decision it was. "We can pick anyone in the WHOLE WORLD to replace this skinny white guy. I KNOW, how about a YOUNGER skinny white guy! Because we hardly ever see people like that on the tellybox!" I will probably get over this eventually.

3.) OH and re. the most recent episode of The Three Companions, did I really hear Polly say that she had a ministry to run? If so, squee! and also details, please?

Re: 2 - I understand yr. displeasure at continued representation of the dominant paradigm, but he does strike me as increasingly different from Ten in performance (posher, quieter and less abrasive - although he is slightly young-fogeyish in a way that [personal profile] jesuswasbatman identified as problematic a while back, so... I like it, but it may have further ideological squick lurking under the surface).

I need to buy the missing CDs I don't have so I can actually listen to the whole of The Three Companions. Mind you, I need some money first (and let's not get me started on that rant!)

The trailer was a *great* cinema advert. As a trailer, not so much! Personally I'm still bitter Donna's not the Doctor (or Martha, or Bill Nighy - I'd have settled for any one of them!)

Never seen BH and have no inclination to, I confess...

My dream choice for Eleven was Frazer Hines, but I guess I can settle with a guy who decided his Doctor was to wear a bowtie after watching (and flailing over) Tomb of the Cybermen. Anyone who reacts like that to a Troughton story deserves a chance in my books.

That said, I don't see the trailer as a trailer - that's a TV ad. BBC Prime used to show a similarly-styled ad with Chris Eccleston and Billy Piper when they started repeating the first series, so it's nothing new.

(As for Polly, I'm squeeing about the news you've given me, as they make BF canon fit even more nicely with my own personal canon.)

I feel the same about Matt Smith. I'm sure this will change after seeing his first episode, because if all previous incarnations are any indication, I am incapable of not loving the Doctor, but so far, meh.

(But oh, I too wish we could have Bill Nighy.)

Polly! That is so cool!

I feel the same way about Being Human. I stopped watching around episode 2 of this season, and from what I've heard since then, that was a good move on my part.

I'm still watching Being Human, though I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet. I have been disappointed with the tone they've taken and some of the things the characters have done, though.
